amother classic - leaves her boss/associate Cab Calloway unclaimed of course, and he has his own number at the end.....

other cameos spring to mind, such as the leader singer of the real country band, the Nazi leader, police chief (who later also took the same role in a couple of Bond films i think, always with a cheek full of wadded tobacco), James Brown, PeeWee Herman, Twiggy, and of course the great man himself Steven Spielberg.

The penquin what a character…. Me and jnr used to watch the BB almost once a week it’s still one of his favourite movies along with Tron Legacy but I always had to skip that scene in particular, now he is 12 I think it’s time for him to see it , it’s so funny 😂

The game is coming along really well and there is loads of bits going on I didn’t even realise.

IMG_7209.webp

Active gate at the top that you have to release to capture balls and then you have to do stuff no idea what yet 😂 to release them into play..

IMG_7210.webp

Newton ball target behind the drops 😎😎

Cabs coming along as well
IMG_7206.webp

And some board stuff that doesn’t mean much to me as I have no clue about any of that tech stuff 😂

IMG_7207.webp

The topper is looking pretty sweet as well and it’s interactive I might change that plastic blues mobile as I have a Ertle Blues mobile model
That’s gonna sit super awesome where the plastic is but will wait and see.

I was born in 86 and my parents had The Blues Brothers on VHS when I was growing up. Watched it many times at a very young age and was inspired by the language used. One weekend when I was around six or seven I was out with my mum and my gran who were doing some shopping and we ended up in one of those shops that sell soaps and body washes etc, so a very strong perfume smell.

I took the opportunity to channel Jake’s energy when Elwood takes him to the Penguin and shouted ‘this place stinks. There’s no ****ing way I’m ever coming in here again’ to looks of horror from all the little old ladies. I was swiftly removed from the shop by my mum and wasn’t allowed to watch the movie again for quite some time.

I'm only youthful in this hobby 😂

Also quick pro tip - try not to use words like youthful if you're trying not to sound like you're already in your 50s.. or your 70s 😂

And hey at least you have a Homepin coming to cheer you up!

Ruleset from the github link for current software explains how to get the top gate open to lock balls in it and release for Rawhide multiball.

## Mini Modes
There are 3 mini modes the player can qualify & stack in order to put the band together.

**Elwood:** Two drop target clears (adjustable) will qualify Elwood. Like Stars, clearing either bank counts as the first clear and then both drop banks need to be cleared the second & successive times. Once the banks have been cleared twice, the machine announces that Elwood is qualified and the scoop (VUK) is lit to start the mode. Mode start is on a timer--after 30 seconds the mode remains qualified (adjustable), but starting the mode will not bring in a playfield multiplier.

**Jake:** Lighting all the JAKE standups once (configurable) will qualify the JAKE mode. The mode can be started with a playfield multiplier on the scoop (VUK) within 30 seconds.

**Band:** Collecting 500 spins qualifies the band. Alternating spinners will increase the spin count by 10, so hitting the left then the right with the orbit shot will get to the spin count faster. After 500 spins the mode can be started with a playfield multiplier on the scoop (VUK) within 30 seconds.

Two or three modes can be qualified at once, and qualifying a second or third mode will add 15 seconds to the mode start hurry-up. Each mode comes with a +1 playfield multiplier if started before the timer expired and modes are played as a 2-ball multiball. Add-a-ball is available on the loop shot (above right sling) while in the mode once a mode shot has been hit.

### Mode shots:
In Elwood mode, the player has to hit the lit drop target to score an Elwood shot.
In Jake mode, the player has to hit a lit standup to score a Jake shot.
In Band mode, either spinner scores a Band shot.

## Concert Multiball
If the player scores mode shots in each of the 3 mini modes, Concert Multiball will be qualified at the scoop (VUK). Two additional balls will be launched (and/or released) and the player can collect jackpots at the scoop (VUK). Jackpot is re-qualified by hitting a drop target, standup, and spinner. Jackpot value is based on number of mode shots the player achieved in each of the three mini modes before starting Concert Multiball.

## Rawhide Multiball
Open Hide Away lock with the captive ball (configurable number of hits) behind the L target. The gate remains open for 30 seconds. Once two balls are locked, a third ball is launched. A ball save runs while the player attempts to start multiball. Hitting any of the multiball shots (captive ball, spinner, or flip lane) starts the 3-ball multiball with a bonus based on which shot they hit and how long it takes to hit it. Jackpot on scoop (VUK). Super jackpot qualified by hitting captive ball. Super jackpot collected with Hide Away. Lift Gate is raised 15 seconds after Super Jackpot. Mega Jackpot collected with two balls in Hide Away. Jackpot value defaults to 50k (Super = 100k, Mega = 200k). Jackpot value is increased with Mini Mode completion.
If mini modes are running when multiball starts, the minimode shots are still available.
Playfield multiplier is based on the number of balls in play plus the number of minimodes running.

## Joliet Multiball
If the player finishes Concert Multiball and Rawhide Multiball, Joliet Multiball is qualified at the left ramp. Once the left spinner has been hit, if the next switch hit is the right spinner, a 3-ball multiball will start. Jackpots can be collected at the scoop (VUK), captive ball, and super jackpots at the Hide Away (which opens and closes on a timer).

Hi guys,

Yes, things are progressing well and the wood shop that was damaged by the typhoon is back up and running as it should be.

We still expect to be shipping out the first Blues Brothers machines before Christmas but these will be sea freight so they won't clear into countries until after Christmas.

Many incorrect statements have been made about Homepin, our warranty and our products, mostly by people working for other pinball retailers so please let me clarify here.

Homepin warranty is LIFETIME on all PCBs that we manufacture and this also applies to our open source machines (yes, more open source pinball machines to come).

If something (ANYTHING) is damaged by bad luck or incorrect coding, boards, coils etc owners can simply contact us and it will be taken care off. Usually we will also pay the shipping cost. To say or imply anything else is incorrect, wrong, malicious, untruthful & only said as an attempt to damage the Homepin brand.

This same warranty applies to EVERY pinball machine Homepin has built in the last eight years including Thunderbirds, Spinal Tap & Blues Brothers.

Don't let the negative nellies put you off and certainly have no concerns about warranty.

Homepin is the ONLY pinball company that TRULY stands behind the products we manufacture because we are proud of every single one!

Will, what am I missing about The Blues Brothers as a sort after theme?

I vaguely remember watching it on video at uni around 1990, assume it was quite old by that time. Might have seen bits on TV since could tell you about the c/w covers band scene but that’s all.

Up there with the Goonies as films that never resonated with me. Maybe it would have been far better if I’d seen it in a cinema but that was never an option growing up.

Now Gremlins would grab my attention.

So john this is gonna be a Vee style epic are you ready 😎😎

I think I was around 13 or 14 when my friend’s older brother used to introduce me and my mate to films that he liked and these movies at the time were kinda older movies , as at that age I was crazy obsessed with movies so when you would be told about something like “ Animal house “ or “ clockwork orange “ and one in particular “ monty Python and the holy grail “ it was cool to go to school and chat about these movies when most talk was about ghostbusters and Star Wars .
Anyway one night he told us to rent the Blues Brothers so off we went to the local Circle K that had a small selection of videos and there it was , it was an 18 but mum and dad had already cleared with the shop I can rent what I want ( renting porkys when I was 10 is another story 😂 )

From the opening scenes of Jake walking through the jail , not seeing his face at all then the slow build up of “ she caught the Katy “ then the close up shots of Jake and Elwood…omg still sends chills. The movie then just goes from scene to scene of just brilliance. The Penquin whooping Jake and Elwood everytime they swear and the more she whoops the more. I could go on and on about all the scenes that I love but there really isn’t a moment of this film that I don’t absolutely love.

It introduced me to some incredible musical artists that I still love to this day the musical dance scenes ( being a huge lover of musicals ) the choreography of shake a tail feather the way the movie just suspends believe because it can . I love how the car became it’s own character how it had some kind of magical powers that were never explained ( apart from in the extended cut which I didn’t like )
The sub characters like the Illinois Nazi’s the good old boys .. Carrie fisher trying to kill Jake and Elwood the huge amount of cameos in the movie was something that blew me away as well as a kid seeing john candy for example, Spielberg , James brown.

The car chases the incredible amount of stunts and the fact they actually drove those cars at 100mph really makes you feel like you’re travelling at that speed ..

I watched it and re watched it, I used to go to see the official tribute show every year when it would play with my mum and dad and then with my mates as I got older.

Me and junior would watch it once a week when he was around 6 and still even today he said about watching it he loves it and I recently said he can now watch the entire movie without me skipping and I can’t wait.

So I guess john it’s just one of those movies that is just soaked into my skin , such as pulp fiction , Goonies and raiders.

The goonies is also one of my favourites and when Barrels of fun announce that real soon I am all over that as a pinball
In fact tonight is one of my pre 50th get togethers and I have hired the Dome cinema to show The Goonies tonight I would say come along john but it’s only got 40 seats .

John go hire it again give it another watch

You should try watching it again. It’s great.

I’d absolutely love to see a Gremlins machine though. One of my remaining dream themes.

Wish you all the success in the world with this title Mike 😎😎

Guess you like it a little bit then Will 😉

I’m in no position to judge people on film tastes. I’d be all over a “my fair lady” pin 😂

Where to start?
I'm not one to obsess about films. I saw the original Star Wars just the once, and it was OK. Ghostbusters? Meh. Goonies? Never even seen it once. They are just films, what's the big deal.
But the Blues Brothers? Hootchiemama! I must have watched it fifty times. Almost every scene is a work of genius, and the more you watch it the more you see. Every time there's something new.

So Blues Brothers has always been my dream theme for a pin. Such great music, so many brilliant sound bites. And I am a fan of simple pins which don't require a PhD to understand the rules (I'm looking at you AIQ). So I'll be watching this with with great interest.

YaaaaaaOK. Now, did you get me my Cheese Wiz, boy?

Never got the Goonies fascination .
Original Ghostbusters? 🤩
Love this scene.
“I’ve worked in the private sector, they expect results!”
The characters in Blues Brothers are fantastic.
Seems Home Pin may become the Kia of pinball?

I always get directors John Landis and John Hughes films mixed up. They've both made a lot of movies I have a lot of nostalgia for.

I need to give Blues Brothers another watch, seen it a couple of times and didn't quite click with it.

One of the best films EVER

"See if you can guess what i am now....." 😂
a zit!

I remember enjoying BB but hadn't watched it in 20 years, then last week this thread was bubbling and someone said "it's about to start on ITV4" on something so i watched it. i kept being wowed every few minutes: is that Aretha? Why is Carrie Fisher in it? Is that James Brown? Twiggy WTF? etc etc etc.

i think i felt the same way about a few films as Will does about Blues Brothers, but not very many. Withnail and I; Spinal Tap; Point Break; Total Recall; Manhattan; Goodfellas; Heat; Silence of the Lambs......

I'm also totally hoping fot a fun pinball machine, good luck Mike K

Actually good seeing thru' hole components on a modern pcb.

The boardset does look old fashioned in layout. Very Bally SS in a lot of ways.

But then again, it is not controlling videos etc. A RPi mini for example is a lot more powerful than say a Williams WPC95 boardset. I havent looked too closely what it is being run on but I would imagine something arduino/RPi ish......

I just think Will you are getting a little too excited. A bit like meeting up with an old girlfriend you still held a candle to that you havent seen for 20 years - you finally meet and she looks like a bag of spanners.

It's running an Arduino Mega 2560 Pro, interfacing to a pair of 6521 PIAs, like and old Bally/Stern board set without the 6800.
