X-Men pin announced

Looking interesting - been following the 900 posts of hype on Pinside!

I am thinking this could be good but one thing for sure, Stern are getting betting at building the hype:)

I could be tempted here. Great theme and a spinning magnet toy like in twister to boot. Rumour has it june 5th will be the full reveal.

There was a time i would'nt even consider a Stern machine. Oh how things change. Bring it on!

Agreed. I think finally things are moving on and the 90s games are actually beginning to look and feel 'old' ...if you know what I mean.

Didn't actually play any pinball for about 10 yrs from the late 90s to late 2000s and was really surprised to see how little things has progressed when I started to play again. (totoally missed out on the Pin2000 development) Hopefully we could be in for a mini-boom of new machines and ideas.

I still think that if the quality of machines was good and prices a little cheaper (bring on the collapse of the Euro/Dollar) then there could be a large upsurge in people buying NIB and maybe, just maybe, some prices might start to drop for the 90s machines.

They have rushed it out because that is when the first WOZ is being released into the wild

Gary Stern is such a tool sometimes

Feel old ? They will never be as old as us Ive, and I look at them like a good wine, They get better with age.

He doesn't need to lower himself to a *** for tat war though. Stern is producing tables at a rate of 5:1 compared to JJP and they are all selling well. There's enough room in the market for both companies imo

To me JJP pins are going to be better quality, with deeper, more interesting rulesets. WOZ looks more stop and go, less flow.

Stern pins are poorer quality, but better themes and play faster, with more flow.

Whilst I want to buy a JJP, it is Stern's themes that are more interesting to me and the faster gameplay.............interesting times!

I think it looks fantastic. Very busy playfield layout, and that 'ice slide' is a very nice touch. I can see that adding a whole new dimension to ball control. I dont think the spinning center magnet works ala twister but instead alters the balls path by momentarily engaging when the ball comes near. I do spot some sort of totan style ball trap in the disc so i may be wrong. I may have to give myself a slap again, i want it!!!

Seriously? I'm not saying this from a WOZ owners standpoint, but after seeing the cab first and thinking WOW, I saw the PF and thought same old bland artwork, fan layout, cheap plastic ramps and horrific looking toys.

Wolverine reminds me of

+1 on the cab, all of them look amazing

Are those things that are popped up in front of the ramp entrances like the trolls on MM? Need more info about the pf features!!! Thank god I haven't got the cash for one otherwise I might be placing an order.

I believe they are.

Whilst it may not be a groundbreaking playfield design, and def has that Stern 'business as usual' look to it - it looks like it could be a lot of fun to play.

With a cartoon theme you can expect the cartoon characters to be on the playfield somewhere, no? The glossy look on what Jon would name 'happy meal toys' would be a result of some protection needed for a gazillion ball strikes it no doubt will receive in its life. Yeah, they look a bit poor, but i couldnt see stern playing high end statues in there haha.

I agree the PF art looks a little sparse, the pop up nightcrawler stickers are crap and the giant 'X' at the bottom of the PF is quite ugly, but as far as the rest i really think it looks a damn good players machine.

Sometimes when you expect ****e all you see is...well.....****e. Look deeper into the game design and you will see there is many cool features in the PF layout that has been designed primarily for speed and flow with extra additions of the spinning magnet disc and nightcrawler pop ups to slow it down a bit. To me, that says mutliple playing possibilites/styles which can only be a good thing. I guess time will tell if the software is up to scratch or not.

I think it looks great, really in keeping with its comic book roots happy they didn't opt for the movie versions. Still would cry myself too sleep everyday if I dropped 6K on one , but as that will never happen I say GOOD WORK STERN

i look forward to the next age of competition in pinball, with 2+ manufacturers trying to outdo each other with toys and gizmos etc. i couldn't care less about the cabinet, backbox, topper, legs etc, but BRING ON THE TOYWARS!

Well, looked at high resolution pics and the Pro cab art is awesome, better than the LE's. Pro has the chicks as well:D

Would of liked some metal ramps.

So no moving ramp, pop up toys and spinning disc on Pro. Is it worth getting? 2k cheaper as well.

I have yet to look at a Stern pin and think 'I have to get me one of those'.

This pin changes nothing.

And I HATE the idea of LE pins.

It will all be in the gameplay. I really enjoyed a good spell on Transformers the other weekend and that has had very mixed reviews. I have to admit the toys look oversized on this one, cab art is terrific but there really should be metal ramps. His name's Magneto for crying out loud not sodding plastic boy!
