Well... I know amongst collectors this game is considered a POS, but I have a fairly reasonable one here...

Question is, seeing its missing the power driver pcb, a dmd and the translite is horrible (never seen a translite red fade before!)...

Is it worth putting back together?

Saw one go for around £500 odd on ebay recently so don't spend too much :-) Looks in good nic though so I don't think it's ready for the big visit the big pin in the sky just yet. BTW is that a Half life arcade in the background, Japanese import??

GI is a terrible game.

It is indeed

Probably the only one outside Japan and now one of the few that even exists! Im a massive HL fan and spent a massive amount to bring one over whent he network was decommissioned wghich effectively spelled the end of the game as an operational machine.

Have to come to a meet to play it

I saw it in EDGE a few years ago but never found it in an arcade when I've been to Japan. Nice piece of arcade history there and looks to be an intereseting control scheme with the pedals. Is it just deathmatch or does it have the single player HL2 as well?

Stick it on eBay as a project, they tend to go for more in this freaky world! I would expect a fully working nice one to go for £500, expect this project to hit similar money, that seems to be how ebay works, even though its true value is more like £250

Ordinarily I'd say do it up. I've played it up at Inglmills (?) and really quite enjoyed it but given how many other projects I know you have on the go, pass it on and get on with something else!

Ya see I don't particularly like the game.

However one less pin is always bad:(

My best woman(when I got married I had a best woman,NOT a best man),has persuaded her other half to let her have a pin, when he makes the garage into a bar/chill out room. The mad side of me says"how much Rav?".And do it up for her-hell I owe her as she thought being my best man was a nerve wrecker:eek: She just wants a dmd pin.

Either way, most pins should be save whereever possible

Well, ironically I spent yesterday tinkering with the Gilligans... After all it was sat there missing a DMD (which I had one with a few lines otu from my Dr Who) and missing a Power Driver board (which I had one spare), so I put them together thinking if the machine had loads of problems I'd have a easy decision... Well blow me down....

Game Fired up, no errors!!

...Well almost... I put a -3 power driver board in that doesnt have the relay for the flippers - having looked around it seems my TAF has a -1 in it and so I'm going to put that in - at least then I can play it for myself and decide better what *I* think of the game!

Ok the cabinet has faded - and the translite (never seen that before!) - check out the playfield after a quick - and I mean quick - foam clean and wipe over:

Virtually flawless! I'm gonna get it working I think then make a judgement based on play rather than hearsay

Well... Living with a Gilligans...

In a way the bad press this table gets is a little harsh... What I will say is that the music droning on with it's hideous sample rate and unfortunately catchy tune will drive you bonkers!!! In addition to this, I can see why the recycling monkeys might consider Gilligans a veritable feast - the playfield is packed with now tenner targets, juicy prime WPC architecture...

But I think for now, this strangely enjoyable game (at low volume) is gonna stay at the outpost at least to the slam... Maybe longer... In fact, if I ever get the time a freewpc makeover (if you can control sounds and game modes) could be a great solution!

Just also want to say a quick thanks to a guy on here who i think wants to remain anonymous, whose given me a unfaded translite pretty much cos Ive given this pin a chance to live again

Glad to see you saved it Rav, and even better you are enjoying a game on it.

Any pin is worth saving if possible. More pins for the future, because there are not enough out there for the demand.
