Multiballs

I'm all for going off the ratings on IPDB, but I see pinballs as person preference.

TZ maybe number 1, but that doesn't mean it's my top table.

Stern - Wheel of fortune.

Anyone own one? Played it - dislike/like?

Had one for about a year, really enjoyed it when I had it. I think it is the machine that has made me improve as a player more than any other, such a different layout, and its super tough

I found that with Monopoly.. Not a bad table IF I'm allowed to say so myself.

Yes, I have one, a great game, but a poor theme IMHO. WOF is quite similar to Monopoly in having a broad rather than deep rule set.

The different flipper arrangement really does makes you change the way you play pinball. You need to be able to trap and hold the ball until the wheel stops spinning, then aim accurately at the correct target to collect points and prizes. You also need to learn how to nudge and shove the game around to get the ball into a lit outlane so when it drains you earn a Free Spin and a saved ball. That centre post between the widely spaced flippers is also novel, harking back to the days of EM games.

WOF is a very glitzy and colourful game with that lovely bright wheel sitting at the top of the playfield. Not many of these around I believe. I first played one of these on the pier at Southwold. That game is long gone now.

I really enjoyed playing your WOF in daventry, it played very nicely, i put up a GC score of about 170 million i think, which absolutely killed all the scores I had when I had my machine, I think maybe something was playing up on it over the weekend

Glad you enjoyed it! Hmmm, the game is still packed away at the moment. I remember seeing somewhere that if one of the optos for the ramps is playing up it adds loads of points to the score. I think my best on it is about 110 million.

My JD did that at the first show I took it to... :eek: Andy, the legend that he is, sorted it in minutes...

and yes it was a ramp opto that had died... :cool:

JD?

Have you played/owned a Wheel of fortune?

JD = Judge Dredd

In answer to your question, yes, I played the Wheel of Fortune at this year's World Pinball Championships. :cool:

It took a couple of practice games to get use to, but I won my tournament games on it so I can't complain! I quite liked it but I'm well known for liking different / quirky tables that most people shy away from. I'd buy it if the price was right and if I had the money/room.

It's an enjoyable game for sure, the only thing that let it down for me in the end was the lack of complete software. The software that IS there is good, all the bonus modes are challenging, the wheel is an outstanding toy, the layout is certainly different and you do have to get used to NOT flipping at certain times. If you just want to play it for fun and score then it's really good, I like completing games and getting to wizard modes, the lack of one in WoF was what led me to sell in the end.
