I’ve got some space on my warehouse mezzanine that can fit a few pinball machines to be setup and played.

As per photo the machines would be exposed to sunlight coming in through the skylights.

Given the skylights are frosted and not transparent, I was wondering if this would be enough to not suffer any adverse prolonged exposure sun damage to the colour on the cab and playfield. Last thing I want to do is suffer colour fade on the machines so I would value some feedback if the frosted panels are enough or not .

A few years ago I asked George Gomez about modern pinball machines and fading. He informed me that modern pinball machines are not prone to fading due to modern paints used.
If you have classic 90’s style games that are original they would probably be more prone to fading in a natural well lit environment.
I hope this helps. I guess you could also get covers for them when not in use?.

Thanks Chris, I appreciate your advice

I would urge caution here. I made the mistake of believing that modern technology had cracked this issue. We foolishly picked ral 3003 (maroon) for external doors/ woodwork.

Over the years I have seen so many claims of "uv stabilised" and I simply don't believe them. In particular I do not believe that the colour red can be stabilised in consumer products. And most pinballs have reds.

My South facing front door is plastic composite and has faded, my North facing garage door is painted metal and has faded.

A pal bought those fake modern lookalike dark grey roofing slates and they have faded.

The UV film is obviously worth a go, but I'd cover the games up when not in use. Even if just cotton sheets.17449674637591694520510849897265.webp17449675203525063526497380625103.webp17449675394927284738350681860333.webp
