Anyone got a UK solution for the quiet Pin Monk power supply fan replacement.

Is there an off the shelf product or is anyone on here swapping the connector to make them compatible?

Any advice would be appreciated. Apologies if this has been answered previously.

Paul

Havent seen the fan myself but normally Noctua has lot of different sizes, quiet fans. Can you post the photo of the fan that you want to replace (with the connector)

I do feel like this wouldn't be too difficult for those who know electronics to do - they're just from what I can tell PC fans with a connector for pinballs fitted.

I was going to reccomend this one:

but it looks like the Sunon one is even quieter, 10.7 dBA, with better airflow. Nice

Since this was mentioned in another thread (@Itch)... I did get a few from mouser. It was a bit painful as they won't ship those unless you give them a VAT number.

Note that the part I linked above matches the one in the OP but that's a spike 1 fan. For most spike 2 machines you need the smaller 40x40mm version - can link when I get home.

The fan comes with no connector - think I'll reuse the existing one and solder the wires together. Will update on here once I've had a chance to take a look (probably some time next week)...

Quite strange. I bought many times from mouser and they never required the VAT from me. Only problem for me was ordering for more than £30 to get free delivery as I usually order small bits like capacitors or molex connectors.

Yes but this specific item has restrictions. They told me it's due to CE / UKCA regs. 🤷‍♂️

Product available only to OEM/EMS and design business customers. Product is not shipped to consumers in the EU or the UK

Fans are fans, but you do need to be careful as a lot of the cheapo 'quiet' ones effectively do onboard voltage reduction and/or achieve the low noise by having a different blade design which reduces both noise and airflow. The better ones have well designed blades and quality bearings. Also, they come in 10/20/40mm depth - don't get a thinner one as it won't move enough air.

Sunon fans work well and I'd suggest going for the same one as it has been tested and produces sufficient static pressure to move the air around inside the head.

Noctua 40mm fans are great and most come with 'Opti join' adaptors to make it easy to reuse the original fan header.

I use them in various bits of kit and have done for years but they do tend to have lower throughput so for some small/high performance use cases you may see temps get higher (I have a Supermicro mini chassis that suffers from this if all 3x40mm fans are Noctua)

Anyone find a solution for a plug and play swap out for the PSU fan. FF is louder than ever (or maybe it's just because it is next to my desk) but don't have any spare Noctua's laying about and I don't really have time at the moment to mess about figuring out connections as IIRC they aren't standard so would rather just order something. If not, I'll order some from Pinmonk as I know they work

Right so I ended up getting 6 of these. As mentioned above they want to know a VAT number before shipping them out. https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/369-HA40201V41UA99

Finally had some time to crack JP2 open, need to remove 2 nuts and loosen 4 more. Unplug 2 connectors.

With the box on the bench, 6 screws to open one of which is under the warranty label - peel that one carefully! :D Couple more screws and a plug to get the fan out.

After a bit of soldering I find the real problem: the new fan has larger screw holes and thus can't be attached 🤦‍♂️

So it'll be a trip to the hardware store tomorrow...
