Is **** these days! Almost every post is about the pinball league, selling tickets for a show or Gary Flowers Stern advertising. It's dying a death imo

I wouldnt go that far, however i do feel that maybe since all the flaming and price threads it's lost it's purpose. However that's my personal opinion, and a real shame since there's a wealth of info on there just waiting....

To be fair it's got quieter on here recently, so may just be "timeoftheyear" scenario...

i respect you having your opinion jonathan but personally think threads like this are not good for the site and will only lead to arguments that are just not needed.

2 years ago there it was thriving and a great place to buy/sell pins and discuss machines. Now it's one big yawn fest imo with the occasional 3400 IJ for sale. There's a reason so many of the regulars left and the post count has dropped right off

i think promoting pinball in its various locations throughout the uk, can only be a good thing. yeah sure things get spammed up, its the best free advertising you can get, its a target audience. i as well as many others are in the pinball league, its a great way to play pinball if you dont own 1. its also a great way to meet fellow gamers. as for the actual uk pinball group. i joined but there was too much crap coming through. i havent been back. this site may be smaller but im sure through time and effort it will become the real pinball forum to join. tbh i only joined the group as there was a bit of a flame war on. i feel safer here than i do over there, maybe because i have met some of you guys, i couldnt really say. i do however think, that the attack on the other site is unjustified. we have just started coming to the end of a 2 year war between video sites. there was no winners.

cheers.

john bud.

speaking as someone who ran a uk based forum with a decent sized membership for a few years i can confirm from previous experience that slating/slanging matches will only do damage to said forums long term.

we used to operate zero tollerance to stop members squabbling as it ultimately led to people leaving which is never a good thing.

never post a reply or send an email in anger. have a cuppa a do it later.

peace fellas!

Calm down fella.

Like or it not UKPinball has been around a long time, and will continue to be so. Lots of great guys on there who don't frequent this forum as yet.

I'm not really sure what your problem is with posts about the Pinball League - it has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, they meets are great social events and important meet up points for local pinheads to play, talk pinball, drink beer

As for selling tickets for Shows ...I assume you are referring to recent Slam posts...again - what is the problem??

The SCS is one of THE pinball events of the year, almost universally loved in the community and oddly enough requires a certain number of tickets to be sold in order to be financially viable - right now poor old Will is near to having a heart attack with the stress of it and the worry of not recouping the considerable upfront costs involved in putting on such an event. And behind the scenes a whole bunch of us are running around like idiots to help put this thing together again .....because we LOVE pinball/vids and we love seeing people coming along and having their minds blown at such events . To take issue with it being discussed in any way on UKPinball is quite frankly baffling

As for Gary Flower ....the guy lives/breathes pinball, and has done since before some people on here were born. If it wasn't for Gary a lot of stuff on the UK pin scene would not happen.Period (as our US cousins would say). For example without Gary we wouldn't be having Steve Ritchie coming over for the Slam next weekend. So cut Gary some slack, with all due respect you don't know the half of it.

Feel free to stay out of the thread if you honestly care that little. The fact remains, the posting figures on ukpg have dropped right off, many long term members have left and the 'community' feel on there is long gone. It's fine if you disagree but no need to get offensive.

As for being at the slam, living in Newcastle ill give the 16 hour round trip a miss thanks

And your opening post wasn't in any way 'offensive' ??!??

You're right, I should never have responded to this pathetic thread, but I did feel the points I made in my original response needed to be said. My 2nd post was beer fuelled and prob didn't add much

but I don't apologise for it.

The amount of work that has goes on behind the scenes I can only guess at.........countless hours!

Slamtastic:D
