Don't let pinball politics stop you from voting for your favourite mod etc. It's quite feasible that the UK can win for 2 years running so I'd hope that people with still vote despite YouTube, websites and podcasts being removed form the categories.

I did watch Cary's video but he said he didn't know why the twippys was cancelled but then hinted that it was because something negative Kanaeda has said. I got the impression he did know but wouldn't say.
It's all very cloak and dagger.

Guess because he doesn't shill like most of the other content creators.....

Well ultimately they'll lessen their audience because I'm sure websites and podcasts push people towards the event. That being said the machines themselves and the mods and venues are still the most important thing.
I think the YouTube and podcast creators operate in a different space anyway. As for cancelling . . . . that's impossible without access to FaceBook or YouTube, I'd imagine Kaneda's audience figures will be unaffected by this (he may even have gained some patrons). Rather than him being cancelled, I'd imagine he'll become more prolific.
I'm not entirely sure the pinball community will miss out either because they can still watch the Twippy's and their usual podcasts.
As for shilling? I can't say that I'm aware what people are saying. Surely there are sh1t games, average games and good ones so people just call it as it is?
Without actually knowing what Kaneda has said it's hard to know what to think really. It all seems unnecessarily dramatic though and it's a shame it's overshadowed the Spooky announcements yesterday.
As for announcing a Twippy boycott
Surely everyone will just fast forward the two hour show and watch the bits that interest them like every year right?
Kaneda has lost his way. Whilst all the others do their job for the love of pinball, Kaneda only does it to win yet another TWIPY. He mentions it in every broadcast he does. He’s brought this on himself and also ruined it for the others.

Very interesting read, I wasn't aware the Kaneda was the guy from years ago who bought loads of arcade games and posted about it on the Klov forum and then got upset that they didn't appoint him immediately as their king and then spat his dummy out, as he seems to do a lot.This is a pretty good look at the other side of the argument

Just read the Kineticist article and truly mad stuff.
Don't follow Kaneda but heard him a couple of times. OK, he's marmite. The videos above show him to be a crazy dude but I still think the point is that he won that category for 6 years, which is voted for by the public.

Not knocking anyone who won awards (it was cool to see Stumblor win the mod category last year) but the whole awards presentation is cringeworthy and dull.
And very US centric, not being able to vote for this site or Gonzo's channel just kills any interest for me.
Kaneda probably has a valid point, but his 'persona' makes it hard to care.

I can't decide if he's pantomime villan or actually serious. He gets some great leaks, if only his sources would use Knapp or somebody more credible.

I think the American parlance is... douche.
In the video on kineticist page he just comes across as a total c*ckwomble narcissist, flashing trophies that he then berates as cheap ass trophies anyway.
I'll be honest he's hardly drawing me in to watch his content.

Censoring an individual because you dont like them is Wrong on so many levels.
For TWIPY to then cancel the whole Media side of it is using a sledge hammer to crack a nut...
I do have issue with Kanneda's "I dont believe that your content should have to be free" - it needs to be available... you put it behind a paywall then people dont get access.. and this breaks the whole idea of being "for the public".... which was what i believe the TWIPYS were all about in the first place.
Never been "up" with the TWIPYS. They are completely dead to me now. Self-proclaimed "yearly awards" for the pinball "community"... Thats now broken.

Agree cancelling the categories isn't exactly progressive thinking and people have a right to choose and vote as they see fit.
If it was me I'd make all the trophies two foot high yet award his category with a rubber dog turd. Petty I know but funnier than just cancelling opportunities for all content creators and it gets the point across.
As for the media mixer, its the organisers right to invite who they want. His response qualified the decision IMO and lets be honest he's just as happy to garner the attention as much as attend the event.
