Hi peeps

Does anyone here own one of the treasure cove polishing kits?

The pics look very impressive on the web site but was wondering if it really is that good or will novus 2 and a drill buffer attachment give similar results?

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Gaz

Yeah, it's pretty pricey but I'm leaning towards purchasing the super duper kit with all the trimmings. Problem is I've got my pf stripped and I want it right this second. By the time I've ordered it and it's arrived I would have long since reassembled everything and it'll be months before I get motivated to fully strip it again to that extent!!

I asked about this a while ago and Ive suggested trying a mixture of Novus 3 and Novus 2 (1 parts N3 to 2 parts N2 I think) with a drill buffer.

Why does it work well?? And does it work on Mylar?

To be honest i have never bothered with Novus 1 - it;s like using water.....

As mentioned you can get the pads here...

Thanks For that link Paul. Think I might try that option with Novus 2, for under £15 it's worth a pop. See how we go.

I have one and it works really well.

I have just done a Last Action Hero and Demolition Man with it. Both were very dirty and both came up like new.

I have also used it to restore a heavily scratched TZ display/speaker plastic and polish plastics.

Make sure you have a multi-speed drill that can go quite slow. Keep the area clean (wipe down between applications) and use VERY little polishing compound. If it starts splattering you have too much on.

It can do mylar. It takes a while but you can vastly improve it. Be careful around the edge of mylar though because you have to do some serious polishing on the mylar itself and if there is un-protected artwork adjacent to it you may damage it.

Thanks for the heads up on the pads because mine are just about shot after doing about a dozen machines.

Take it easy,

Andrew.

Thanks Andrew. I've ordered it today. Bloody postage is 45 dollars!!

Grips my **** paying that. But I guess it'll get lots of use.

Thanks again

No problem Gaz. At least the exchange rate is pretty good at the moment. I have just had 200 bulbs, some optos and a Demolition Man NOS plastic delivered from the States.

Don't forget to start with the drill on a medium speed and make sure that everything is kept really clean.

It's also worthwhile washing the pads after you have finished a playfield.

Andrew.

Thanks mate. I've got a spare pf to practise on first. If that works well I'll swap them over. Don't think I'll attemp that myself though. I loose sleep just thinking of it. Top half I can manage but the thought of all those screws and wires underneath sends me in to a panic!!

Doing a playfield swap takes you to the very top step on the pin monkey ladder !

I have done two, a Flintstones and an Addams. The Addams was the hardest because I had to transfer all the t-nuts and whatnot from the original playfield because it was new and had diddlysquat on it.

I don't mind doing them although I HATE swapping the pop bumpers over.

Well, my polishing kit arrived today. I gotta say I'm really impressed with the treasure cove service. Arrived within a week.

In total for the combo kit and some Congo decals with postage I had to pay £95!

A lot if cash really but hopefully the results will be priceless!!

I'll post pics with results

Do some before pics as well

Be good to see the kind of improvements the kit can get.

Will do mate, although it looks pretty clean already as I'd cleaned it up a bit already

Good point. Edited;-). I suggest you do the same and no one will ever know what the hell I'm talking about in this post!! Ha ha.
