Well after they got the wife’s new bike she bought from new and only 10mth old we bought another.
I researched a decent anti-grind lock and small backup alarm for what use that is but anyways they have had a good go to remove but looks like they gave up.
However being the tow rags they are they kicked the bike over and smashed the screen. All this in the middle of Newcastle Ciry Center.

Lock still works but looks a little worse for wear.

Really sad to hear this.
My genuine fear is they will learn why they failed and steal the tool to do the job better next time.
Which means parking in the same place is a concern. It shouldn’t be like this ;(

It’s just the X1 but we now thinking of doubling up on the back wheel.

looks like bolt cutters were used rather than grinder? Still did its job, i have a 3/4 chain with abus granite ulock. most important thing is not to have the lock anywhere near the floor so they cant use as leverage point/anvil. Have you thought of scouting out a more secure place to park it?

Leave it unlocked but hide nearby with a baseball bat, break all their thieving little arms then wrap it round their heads. Then calmly drop ya pants and poop on em - you’ll become a local legend

What kind of bike is it? @Jagspete talks perfect sense. I would not stop a couple of blokes with an grinder and bolt cutters if I saw it happening. Police wont either. Does that make me a chicken? Yes.... But as much as it is ugly I do like my head connected to my spine.

Issue is you'd be done for assault, happened to a work colleauge , there were 2 of them, one kid was only 17 though bigger than him. He had to accept a caution and drop all charges against the toerags to avoid being prosecuted. (assault of a minor)

Problem is there are some crazy people out there, last weekend my one of my sons helped his mate on a night out who was getting pushed around for no reason by a stranger.
Apparently my son told him to leave his mate alone then the guy started on my son, son was laughing and dodging his punches etc then put the stranger down in self defence. They walked off and thought that was that, the stranger came back to them and knocked my son out and was kicking him in the head while he was out cold. Witnesses said they thought he was out for 5 mins!

That was last Saturday, guy is still in custody and police went to hospital to get evidence and have witnesses. Had a ct scan and is ok.
Im guessing he has previous or is on remand, he will be going down Im guessing. But that’s best as we would have got his address and sorted it ourselves which could still happen

So be careful jumping in on a crime taking place, if it’s a women or child in distress then it’s got to be done.

Not where she parks Phil. They know who they are they just can’t catch them and there’s nothing they can do about toe rags walking around the city center in balaclavas.

Depends what you are used too in life I guess. Peeps who have never threw or received a punch, I get why they wouldn't get involved.
I got dragged up in Port Glasgow when young when it was all football casuals etc...., religion hate between catholics and prods.
Lost count of the amount of scraps I've been in, not instigated by me BTW, just wrong place at the wrong time.
I've been stabbed, had bottles hit over my head, broken bones, beat up by around 10+ guys or more... several occassions. You learn how to curl up like a hedgehog...lol
Still got the physical scars but none mentally I'm good, nose still funny shape though.
When you get older, you tend to avoid situations, especially when you are suffering from bad backs and other physical handicaps..lol
Joining the forces sorted me right out, be dead otherwise ....lol
When intervening with such situations, you have to be prepared to go the whole way. Many of these guys are carrying blades etc...
Young guys especially don't care, they really don't understand or care about the repercussions.

I left home for a spell when really young, wasn’t getting on with my Stepdad (usual) stayed for a couple of months on North Peckham estate.
Was like Beirut….real sh1t hole.
The fuzz didn’t like going there either..lol

For people that don't know Newcastle. What is so incredible here is that Hood Street Newcastle is not North Peckham or Beiruit. It's right in the centre of town in one of the better and busier area. Ironically, The Northern Counties Club, an old school upmarket private members club (where there is no signage outside and you have to ring the bell to get in) is directly opposite the motorcyle parking. These crooks are so blatant and just know there will be no repercussions even if they are caught.

Well £130 for a new screen so I made my own for under a tenner so at least the next time they smash it up for fun it’s not so heart wrenching and I’ll just burn another.
