image.jpg The shot to the right of the far ramp is obviously very tight and very important.

On my game it often bounces out if here when you hit it correctly from the left flipper, maybe one time every three. I feel as if I need a powerful left flipper so you can make the steep ramp shot, so my game has the original coil for this. I wonder whether the blue rubber that the ball strikes behind the saucer has become hard so is not cushioning the impact sufficiently for the ball to regularly come to rest in the saucer

How reliable are your shadows with this shot please ?

I am about to do some fiddling to make this shot more dependable.

I find that shot very tight, more often than not hitting it by accident :D. I haven't noticed it rejecting that often, its very similar to a shot on Getaway and that does reject fairly often on mine.

If the shot is made it should not be bouncing out like you describe. There's even a gate there to try and prevent this. As you say I'd replace the blue impact rubber and see if the gate is working correctly (perhaps it's catching slightly so stays up a smidgen too long). Perhaps clean the gate? Also have you got the correct coils on the flippers?

When I had a Shadow I don't remember any start saucer rejects so it's definitely fixable. PM me your address and I'll post you some useful foam that fixes saucer bounce out on pretty much any game from IJ to BTDK. I also have a spare blue rubber square thing if you want it, but check if you have the right screwdriver to get the old one out as I think I remember it's a funny shape

Thanks for the tips.

The coil is ok, it has to make it up a very steep ramp so I can't take too much power out of it using the eos

I checked the gate and it seems fine.

I will drop Dan a pm

Just had a game on mine with no problems. Looking at the one way gate it is mounted on slotted holes and mine is rotated as far as the holes will allow clockwise. This brings it as far away from the saucer as possible which should give it more time/clearance to drop behind the ball.

@Moonraker thanks got the suggestion. It might be too steep. I have always set it using the built in spirit level and I followed the manual to do this. But it does play fast. I have got used to it like this

I have recently upped the power in the left flipper, and this is undoubtedly the cause. I had a league meeting at the house a month ago, after a few hours of being hammered and when Shadow was hot it just struggled to make the upper ramp. This ruined my score as it was the second to last game I played ! So I adjusted the eos a fortnight ago to increase the power slightly. This had led to the increase in bounce outs. The gate is ok, I have adjusted this before to make the best of it

The rubber is 20 years old, so I think that will be a good next place to look.

Sounds like a flipper rebuild and reducing the power in the left flipper back to how it was might be the prudent way forward... :)
