A continuation of what was previously here:

THIS is the place to post about silly Ebay prices, Pins found on remote islands (but for sale) etc...

Originally this was to help people not bid against each other in the hope that people on the forum can grab the machine they want, without paying daft prices!!

I didn’t want to reply until the auction had finished incase it was someone’s on here. 3950 was all the money for it considering a prem sold in dec for 5200. In my head I had the value of mine with shaker and colourdmd at 4000-4200 max

Just noticed when you can access funds is changing. This comes as no surprise since Ebay lifted seller fees and clearly want to max out the time they hold on to your money. From February funds will now not be released until delivery confirmed .
So as a private seller if you use regular untracked Royal Mail , you will wait 2 weeks . I use this for small under £20 value stuff so a bit annoying.

I was getting a 5% loss rate with untracked, so even with the extra costs of using tracked 48 for EVERYTHING, it's actually worth it as my loss rate is now zero

Quick tip I found is that if you are sending untracked include the postage cost in the item value and do free shipping on eBay, that way if it goes missing and you put in a claim you get the full paid amount back and the postage cost. I found this out after I started just including the shipping cost in the auction amount when eBay started charging fees on shipping and auctions with free shipping seemed to be getting more promotion on ebay.

I have never lost a royal mail item posted 2nd class. But now I use 48 tracked for bigger packages as it’s comparable, sometimes cheaper than 2nd!

I do sometimes 5 items a day, so I had a couple a month going missing.

When you file a lost item claim with Royal mail, they will only pay out the first 3-4 times. After that they start sending you stamps instead of paying, then after that, they just start rejecting all your claims

and there's more... "Buyer Protection Fee"....

We’re committed to making it easier for you to shop, and recently changed our fee structure, so it's free to sell for private sellers. This means they can bring you more of the items you love.
As part of this commitment, we’re launching Buyer Protection to give you even more confidence and security when shopping on eBay. From 4 Feb, a fee will be included in the item price when you buy from private sellers, but you’ll only ever pay what you see, so there are no surprises at checkout.
What’s great about Buyer Protection
We’ve added benefits to give you more peace of mind when shopping:
24/7 customer support: You can connect with a real person by phone at any time of day, or start a chat to get quick answers.
• Seller paid after delivery: When buying from private sellers, funds will only be sent once your item has been delivered.

We’ve also got you covered with other great free services like eBay Money Back Guarantee and Authenticity Guarantee.

How the Buyer Protection fee works
• The fee will be included in the item price from private sellers, so there are no surprises at checkout.
• You’ll pay up to 4% of the item price, plus £0.75. For example, when you see an item for £20, the fee of £1.49 will already be part of the price.
• The fee is lower on higher-priced items over £300, and there's a cap on the total amount you'll pay.
• For items from business sellers, you’ll get the Buyer Protection benefits at no extra cost.

My company has claimed lost items through Royal Mail for 15 years. Always a full refund by cheque, don’t think we’ve ever had one refused.

Can't remember the last time I bought something off eBay. The place is a cesspit. Amazon, Facebook marketplace, forums or wish/dhgate/aliexpress/shein. Zero fees or messing about

Why is it a cesspit ? 😅
I buy lots of books from perfectly reputable sellers on there , never had a problem 🤷‍♂️
Facebook Marketplace? Dear god now that is a painful place to deal with 😅😅 The endless time wasters .

I pay a friend a commission to sell stuff on facebook marketplace for me as I don't want to deal with all the crackheads. Every week he has a new story about how someone tried to offer to swap pets/drugs or stolen goods in exchange for the items I am trying to sell. It is the worst of the worst

On a positive note, this means EBAY are now tracking delivery status automatically so the buyer cant argue that they never received it.

Well thats the logical conclusions but ..... EBAY.

I had someone on ebay offer us a dog for a hot tub during lockdown. What is that even about 🤪
Was a long term loan type thing? Did they want the dog back and you get your unwashed hot tub back? So many questions. So much madness..
