Hi Guys,

A bit of a long shot here, but worth the go I suppose.

I've always wanted to replace the play field on my TFTC, the previous owner has made a terrible attempt to repair some damage around the flipper area. It's not likely I could repair it myself any better so I thought I would try to locate a new play filed and do the whole clear coat and make it look awesome thing!

Trouble is these things seem to be pretty rare, anyone got on or seen one about ???

Cheers

Cris

Cris,

Probably not what you want, but I have used one displayed on my games room wall. Don't think there's any wear but several insert decals are missing where they came up following mylar removal. Unfortunately, doesn't look like you can buy replacement ones of these at moment.... I couldn't find them anyway.

I'm near Preston if you want to come over to take a look at it.
John.

Yup, it's Chris. Some of the samples of his work can be seen here: http://www.1stoppinball.com/pages/playfield-restorations

That scoop on Creech was so gnarly and one he'd finished you simply couldn't tell it been fixed up. Likewise with the horse on the MM - simply stunning work.

I've got him in mind for doing some minor repairs on my R&B once i've done the full playfield strip down (which will hopefully commence soon).

Thanks John! I wonder if I could remove the inserts from my existing palyfield? Most are good. Thanks for the option!

I'll try and post some pictures tomorrow. Looks likes the repair has been done with Dulux and a Sharpie! Certainly looks like some talented repairs there! Maybe hope is not all lost for it.

I doubt it Cris.... Reckon your best bet first is to get your existing one touched in. I think Chris' repairs can be done on a playfield without removing everything attached above and below so would be much easier than a full playfield swap.

These 2 images show my main areas of concern.

Firstly there is the badly touched up area around the Cryptkeeper. This is central in the machine and not easily missed. Also highlighted is first I don't seem able to get out from the play field. It generally looks a little tired how ever I try and clean it, although I have to admit it does need a good deep clean right now.

The other area is some of the inserts are damaged, I've shown the worst in the picture attached. I don't think it's got any worse in the 10 years I have had the machine, but I sure would like to fix it.

In my head I want a nice shiny perfect clear coated playfield. But I am not sure how realistic that is going to be.

What do you think? Should I keep looking or try and repair this?

Cheers

Cris

By the looks of the job Chris done on the CFTBL, I reckon you could repair this. But I'm no expert. Drop him a line and see what he says.

Email sent, got a very prompt reply too. Looking hopeful!

Only sticking point might be getting hold of new insert decals. So it might be just a paint touch up.

I'm so glad I joined this forum the other day! Thanks chaps!

Go for a touch up on these (where possible). I've looked for insert decals for my TFTC playfield for ages and never found any.... :(

This is certainly looking like the case, don't think anyone has ever made any. I could attempt my own I guess.
