If anybody out there can help or provide any info it will all be much appreciated. I have a TAF with wear / planking around certain areas. Namely the orange cloud magnet area and around the upper playfield Cousin It area. I was going to install overlays but all the decent cloud overlays are either sold out everywhere or seemingly no longer in production. This is a long shot but does anybody have an IPB repro playfield they never got round to fitting (there was one on here a few months back but it sold I think) or a restored playfield they want to sell? Alternatively does anybody know a restorer in this country who can do playfields? Or am I just peeing into the wind here? LOL

Depends how quickly you need one. Since pps bought the Williams licence from ipb parts have been coming thick and fast. They've confirmed on pinside that they have all the relevant licences for addams playfield so I can't imagine it will be long before they make these. No bigger pinball market than addams parts. They did make 20,000 of them after all.
Failing that do what I've done and send you playfield to Henrik at pinball dreams. Not cheap or fast but an excellent job. Pavlov pinball did an article on him recently. Have a look on their site for details.
Cheers
Rich

Hi Rich, thanks for that. Hopefully some new playfields will materialize then. Out of interest can you say how much Henrik charges? Although I must admit I'm a little daunted by the task of completely stripping the playfield and removing it. I've tackled a lot of jobs on machines (mainly fault finding) but I think a plyfiled removal is perhaps beyond me so maybe it isn't a road I'd go down.

stripping a playfield isn't too tricky. lots of photos and sandwich bags make it a lot easier! Addams isn't too tricky to strip as there aren't too many ramps etc. TZ is a nightmare!
Henrik charges based on what needs doing, so it does vary. I'd ping him an email with some photos to enquire. I'd budget 700-1100 euros though. Essentially, its no saving over a BNIB playfield, however his work is of a better quality, and available whereas BNIB playfields aren't (and often need a little work to make them spot on).
you pays your money etc!
I would be concerned by a badly planked playfield. My original TAF playfield was quite badly planked on the orange cloud and Henrik told me that it wasn't a good bet for restoration. No guarantee's that the dried out wood wouldn't plank again, ruining the touch ups. I ended up buying a better unrestored playfield to send him.

Last time I did a playfield swap I came up with a great idea (at least I thought so) to keep everything in place?

most of the under playfield wiring follows certain routes and is bunched together. I bought a load of thin dowel sticks from B&Q, and cable-tied lengths of this to all the wiring.
After I had finished, which took 1/2 hour, I unbolted everything and just lifted the entire lot up in one go. It all stayed in place attached to the dowel 'lattice' and I stored it my workshop until the new playfield was ready, and then lifted the assembly back on. All the parts fell exactly where they should be and no headaches.

Thats a great tip. Thanks.

I see, I think I'll hold out for either a restored original or a repro. Thanks mate.

Hi Chris, I got your details via e-mail. Sorry I haven't called yet. I work for myself so grabbing a sly 1/2 hour in the day for a chat isn't always that easy as I'm usually quite busy. I'll try and ring you asap for a chat. Cheers, Jon.
