Guys

Kirsten @ http://www.pinnin.de/ has kindly provided a load of Super Bands for the Slam for us all to try out - so I'll be looking for machines to fit them on, basically a 30 second job to swap onto yr flippers and put a Super Bands notice on one of the apron card slots.

I have a bunch of games already that we will fit them to, but if anyone else bringing machine(s) is happy to have them fitted then let me know :)

Not long now people.

Stay calm ....yeah

Anyone that has actually fitted Super Bands will be laughing at the '30 second job' statement :P

Do love them, but not the easiest things to get on.

Maybe it's just because I'm a weakling, but they're pretty tough to put on in situ and would love to see 4 flippers changed that quickly!

Been trying to put superbands on flippers removed from a machine - almost given up! I'll wait til they're back in before trying again...

I must have strong fingers then ....yeah they are tougher then regular rubbers to stretch out but come on ...loop round fat end of flipper, finger either side, pull over thin end. Simples.

I'll post a vid tomorrow. I had heard horror stories about them being tough to fit ...they're not .....clearly most pinheads are uber weaklings :p

They are easy to fit, just a tecnique to it, put it on the bigg end and stretch and slide over to the other.

Likewise feel free to put them on Avatar...

Opps, I ought to say that I'm turning up early Saturday morning with Avatar.
Is it so wrong that out of all the titles so far announced this is the one I really want to put the most time in on? (closely followed by Xfiles)

Everyone I've spoken who has fitted them says basically the same thing:
"They look nice and shiny, but I ended up fitting normal rubbers as the 'bounce' got on my tits"

Oi, there's nowt wrong with Avaturd! :p

It's a cracking gem of a game once you know what you're doing. Can be very butal (a la IM) though and takes no prisoners...! :-o

Put Superbands on my Shadow and they do play really nice. I had coloured rubbers before so it's an amazing difference - much more control and power. Easy to fit as well if you've had your Weetabix :-)

I was quite taken by them on my Dracula. They looked really good as they are blood red and they played really good.
Then I played a Getaway with them on and wasn't impressed at all, it made the game play totally different and not in a good way.
Will look forward to trying a few different machines at the Slam with them fitted as I think some will play better than others.

I've stuck a set on my Funhouse and I quite like them. Only put about 15 games on it since but I didn't notice any unwanted effects and I think they look really nice.

They are a bit tricky to put on though compared to regular rubbers but not too bad. I tried a few things out to see if I could get them on any easier (yes, it was a slow day here...) and I found that if you put them in a cup of hot water for about 10 seconds they slip right on with no effort at all. Might be worth trying if you are having difficulties.

Haha - Well wouldn't you know just had my first 'struggle' getting one on  ......STTNG upper flipper, problem being the wireform right above the flipper makes it hard to get yr fingers in a good pulling position.

Solution/top tip - used a cable tie looped around the band and pulled it on easily - then snipped the tie :D

So ...back from the Slam and checked the SuperBands fitted to my games .......now considering the games were virtually all played nonstop Saturday(inc evening sesh) and Sunday I can see absolutely no wear on the tips. You would almost certainly see some on regular red flipper rubber. Also the dirt trail wiped off so easily so they look brand new again in seconds.

Play wise ....def less 'bounce' than red rubber. And I do feel they 'grip' the ball better making it a little easier to control and hold on the flipper.

Any other thoughts from people who saw them at the Slam ? - quite a few games had them, some had the apron cards fitted alerting you, some didnt.

Def seem to have generated quite a bit of interest amongst people, I had quite a few guys asking about them and I'm sure Kirsten at PinNin will be seeing some orders coming in :)
