Hi all,

Thought this answer would be easy to find but hey, ask the internet and you’ll apparently find multiple answers.

Would appreciate if anybody could please let me know the exact height of a Spike 2 with head folded down, no topper. I’m working with an 80cm / 31.5” boot opening (which I am certain is fine) but there is a middle seatbelt “bump” meaning the minimum height clearance is around 76 cm / 29.9” at one point over on the driver side.

Am I going to have to take the head off to get it in?

Otherwise, car is a Vauxhall Meriva B (2010-) if anybody has any experience of lugging in that car.

Many thanks,

Simon

Of course I had one folded for the last few days and set it up earlier 🤦🏻‍♂️. I’ll try and fold one up for you, the 31” gap is fine, it’s about the slope of the seats and whether there’s a boot lip.

The good news is that head off on Spike games is a piece of cake

Sounds like it could be good content if you fancy videoing putting it in the car ;)

More importantly, what machine are you getting?

Rush?? You should hope it doesn't fit and you come home empty handed 😅. Seriously though, you can easily gain an inch or 2 ( if only! ) by removing the bolts that connect the head to the hinges and sliding the head down towards the lockdown bar before securing with a strap, keeping an eye on the cables as you do. There's usually enough slack in the cables to do this. I have to do this every time I move a spike machine in my civic tourer.

I’ll swap you Rush for UXM, if you want to add in £5k cash my way 😂

I’m afraid I’ll be depriving you of the entertainment of watching me attempt this - I am taking my camper instead, so now there is plenty of head room but the pin needs to be lifted up onto a folded out bed. Luckily Rush is a very light machine so shouldn’t be an issue.

Car-wise, the seatbelt bump would have meant this (just) wouldn’t have fit without taking the head bolts off as per Kev’s suggestion.
