I whole heartedly agree with you but to me DP is now an all time great with its retro pixel art and music that works so well.
In fact they could almost reskin to Mortal Kombat but the one big thing that would let it down is the pure humour of the DP franchise which is the icing in the cake.
Mortal Kombat would be far too serious a theme just check out the latest bloodthirsty offerings of the game that’s now released! I don’t think it would be child friendly in the slightest and might scar a child for life watching some dudes head getting shoved up there own ****.

Absolutely elite theme but just no way this would ever get made. MK is only MK with extreme violence. There's plenty of humour in the game but also A LOT of gore. Shame as it's such an easy theme to do justice with the art, the music/potential callous and the characters. I'd be up for a Street Fighter 2 redo as well.
TWD has a lot of gore and graphic DMD animations and when that rumour slipped out heard back no one thought Stern would do it.
If it’s super popular and Stern think it will bank them big bucks they will make it one day. Unfortunately WB has screwed up the release of the new movie so they’ve probably already killed off another potential franchise before it even got going. Something WB seem to be really good at!

I watched the new movie over the weekend in a friends garden with a bunch of beers and we all really enjoyed it. I mean it’s trash, but it’s fun gory trash.

It's definitely more than a few... a load of beers may have been a more accurate description. Enough to really enjoy the movie and keep us warm after the sun went down.
