Currently the Professional and Amateur Pinball Association (PAPA) uses a variety of machines in it's tournaments, do you think there should be a 'standard' competition machine? A machine specifically for competition could breath new life into pinball, elevating it's status to that of a sport like darts or pool.

If there was a standard competition machine what features would you want it to have? What rules?

I really like the fact that there is variety. Like any sport. If you want to excel in your field, you dedicate yourself to it. In pinball, that means travelling miles and miles to find different machines. Learning intricately the rules and strategies for each machine.
I know in Matt Vinces case, he'll buy a machine just to learn it for competitions. Condition is not an issue, it's a tool for a job.
Combine all those things and you really have dedicated yourself to the "sport" and earnt your place.
Just my opinion though :-)
