Had a cliffy fitted on my SS spiderhole. Had to take the back bit off as the ball would always hang there.
The euro exchange rate is so good at the moment too. I'm replacing a bathroom at the moment and have ended up buying the suite from Germany because it's so much cheaper buying in Euros.
I had the same problem, I spoke to Cliff about it and he made a new one flatter than the original that's been fine ever since.
If you're getting a new set I'd get them direct from him and ask for the spider hole piece to be made this way.

They are "rip off" cliffys... not the real deal. Not sure how much it matters as they probably do the same job. Only if you think you are getting the real deal.
