6 pinball machines, 5 credit dots, 13 error messages.

A van arrives, a man clutching a bag of well-used tools approaches. I nervously hand him a list of faults on a sheet of A4 paper. he stares at it for a few seconds, demands a cup of coffee, white, no sugar, then opens the tool bag.

I decide to retreat to the safety of my kitchen as he throws himself at the line-up of broken machines.

In a flurry of blown fuses, broken wires, suspect soldering and moody replacement parts he moves from one machine to the next, eliminating error after error. Smoke swirls from his soldering iron and machines spring to life minus the dreaded ding-ding-ding.

He stands back and nods. The smoke clears. 6 machines, no credit dots, no errors. I thrust some cash into his hand and he disappears back into the rain.

Andy Netherwood was his name, and he's the best!

that sums Andy up for me. no messing about, he knows what he is doing. he just is ....... the legend

Heh, nice read. Had a period last year of several machines not working including the dreaded ToM project, it's soul destroying sometimes (and actually put me off acquiring too many machines in future) but a great feeling when all up and running 100%. :D

It was my soul getting destroyed not yours ;)

There's no better feeling than to stand in front of your machines and there's not a credit dot in sight.
