Should (or could) CGC remake Big Bang Bar?

I remember hearing some whispers about Big Bang Bar being remade a while ago.

As Illonois pinball had assets purchased by PPS is this idea that mad?

Capcom are of course still going, and I am sure no company would turn down a licensing agreement on a game they could never remake themselves.... or is that too sensible sounding?

I am basing this post just out of curiousity after I FINALLY got to play a real one this week (thank you to that individual).

What are the rules like?
I have had @MajesticPinball's for nearly two years and it's a great unique game but the rules are very linear. Wondered if that's typical of a Capcom

Should? From what I've seen, yeah. Fantastic art package and with there being so few of them, I'd say yep. I'd have thought there was enough interest for a run.

I love capcom machines, there's just something about them I adore. I managed to get 3 games or so on a BBB a few years back and besides being totally mindblown by the art package and amazing theming I just thought it was such a wonderful game, perhaps rarity and being in awe of it came into play a little but for me it would be the ultimate collecting holy grail.

Seeing them get put into production would be fantastic (I'm sure original owners may disagree) but it really is a game that everyone should get to experience.

I also love Capcom and would rather see Kingpin being remade by CGC.
If it happens put me down for one.

its on the list.
Well, I would image a lot of games are....... ToM has been mentioned too from memory and wasnt ToTAN?
Played kingpin at expo. Great game .

Want cgc to get those ccr and mmr out first though!
I seriously wonder how many MMr they could make before everyman and his dog have one?

In 'todays prices' when people want 10K+ for an Addams and 10K+ for a MM - I bet CGC could do BBB in a standard williams cab, their own (reliable) board set and that massive display for £15K+ and sell out. Not many things on that game is expensive to make if you are having 100s done.

PPS don’t have the rights. Gene never had the rights.
I think if BBB is remade it will be after the 25yrs copyright is up. Then it becomes open game.

Also - I don’t think Circus Maximus asked PPS, and knowing how anal Rick is with I.P you would think he would have been onto them like a shot when they announced

When Planetary bought out Gene, they had some parts from BBB production. They were listed on the site and sold out pretty quickly. They did have some BBB plastics made… or had some sets left.

There is still a big demand for BBB parts but Planetary hasn’t remade them, or asked anyone to remake them.

There are a few storelies - Williams bought the rights and made a white wood that didn’t work. So scrapped it.
Williams built a white wood to test if their boards/coils worked - they didn’t and so the did not buy the rights.

I don’t think Capcom bothered with Gene as a was not worth the cost to take to court

Kingpin was being made by guys in Australia. They bought Kingpin No:8. and went about a remake. It has all gone very quiet but rumour is that CGC May have picked it up.

Anyone who wants to make the trip/ local to me in South East London an come and play Big Bang Bar
There you go - pushing the prices up mate :)

Some interesting bits you have listed but the internet is full of interesting facts/fiction about this game. I have read different things, loads of contradicting information. I do know you have researched a hell of a lot about it so you are prob the best source of info in the UK

The copyright law is nothing to do with pinball apart from the things like logos, music, software etc.... Patents tend to last 25 years but I would believe that would be on assemblies. We both know @Dave Bishop how good Capcom flippers are, but I am sure a remake could use 'normal' bally/williams parts for things like targets, kick outs etc.....

BBB came out in June 1996 which makes my rubbish maths reck it is nearly 26 years old so a lot of those patents have ended.

Maybe a (currently ficticious) remake of BBB would have the CAPCOM name missing. It has not bothered people on MMrm, MBrm or AFMrm.

Yeah, which I find it strange that PPS if they did have the rights haven’t made anything. And if the patents have ended why not.

Stan Fukora - BBB artist still sells BBB related printers/ artwork. maybe he owns BBB artwork rights?

The best person to ask all of this stuff is Mark Richie.

its on the actual list not the list of what people think. Rick from PPS has stated it several times.
