Is there any love for these boards? I have one i bought new a few months ago and have no use for it, what are they worth??

No love for them on here. Disclose its presence and place in a game you are selling if you have to revert an ebay/ Gumtree buyer.

Ask Sean at Pin Palace if he wants to buy it back from you at a reduced price? Rottendog stuff quite often goes wrong which is why people only use them when no other alternative is available

Not well regarded.

Not hard to find cases of people reporting unusual or inconsistent behaviour when one of these boards are fitted. Switches not registering properly, weak flippers, power issues. Other stuff that can't be explained logically.

WPC boards are solid. I would do everything in my power to resurrect one using a professional on here or elsewhere before considering a RD replacement, and I've been turned off machines that have had a major board substituted with a RD one.

The nicest thing I can say about them is at least they are an option for someone with boards beyond all repair.

Support also seems non existent! I had a new driver board fitted in a sega pin but not bought by me, had to repair it myself!

If one was fitted in a game I purchased I would swap it out for an original even if I had to repair it.

Had Rottendog power driver boards that have blown capacitors within 6 months.

Personally it would be the last option for me.

eBay it! but probably not a great idea to link this thread.....

I've heard bad things about them but have no experience of using one. Is X-pin stuff better thought of?

My WCS94 has a Rottendog WPC-S mpu board - 1500 games played with no problems.

Have seen a very flaky Rottendog Data East power supply board... but it was flaky on the big power connector and it couldn't be ruled out that the cable-end of the connector wasn't the one at fault. Because those power connectors are absolute crap to begin with. I was hearing a good amount of cursing of the Rottendog board before we figured out it was the cable-side of the connector.

I remain suspicious of complaints because the kind of people whose reports I'd trust the most, are the ones more likely to just repair the old boards. Exact reports of issues are most helpful, such as crappy capacitors or actual schematic faults on the board, but the issues reported never seem to be that specific.

It's important to remember that Rottendog boards show up in machines that have been cannibalized for parts for whatever reason, or have had catastrophic original board failure, or the owner just isn't capable or willing to do (or pay for) board repairs, so it's not completely unfair to suggest that Rottendog boards may struggling against the tide of machines with problems. Boards generally don't fail on their own without the rest of the machine pouring gasoline on them in some form - even battery alkaline damage is at the very least an indicator of neglect.

I would honestly just hold onto it until you can find someone that would need and be happy with that board as an option, instead of selling it for less than it's potentially worth to someone as a 'spare'.

i chosen PinLED over RottenDog for a WPC95 CPU replacement board in the past - where the original was beyond economic repair.

That was purely based on experiences of others on forums like these, not 1st hand.

Can rate the PinLED product highly.

Ironically I would have expected PinLED products to be rated as much worse than Rottendog boards, because they're made with oh-so-super-scary SMD components that people seem to be deathly afraid of touching.

Maybe it's just as simple as how pretty the boards look compared to Rottendog boards? I have to admit that the Rottendog boards look a little bit auto-layout at times, while the PinLED boards are almost works of art! Those are some sexy, sexy circuits!

...I'm saying stuff like that, and I still got happily married, there's hope for everyone

I have a box of faulty RD power supplies. Not had any problems with cpus, apart from when there has been a machine fault.
