Last week had mate over on the man cave, went to power up the RFM, nothing PC fan spinning, nothing on the monitor, no bios beeps, deep depression.
Takes out the rather weird mini atx format PC, yes a bloody small one not even an ATX PSU, an SFX of all things, puts SSD into another PC i happen to have great, all the files are there and its undamaged, ok checked output from the PSU, all 12v and 5v lines are there. One dead Motherboard, ordered up one from the bay of fleas, installed a Intel DG41AN, connected it all back up, powers up TA DA the brocolli heads are invading again. Now the board that was in there was Intel DG41MJ, OK the RAM is different and i had some laying around but the RFM seems to run OK with the 41AN, it has a 3GHZ CPU in it, not sure exactly what as i couldn't be asked to take the fan off. Anyone know the diifference between the two boards? oh BTW the board cost me a tenner! and i also found a replacement SFX PSU for 4 quid, so got one of them spare just in case. I thought i was having a good day until then, went outside, looked up at the roof of the house....whats that i see, wasps loads of them flying round the roof, watched them for 10mins....great...going in the roof space, looks like Arnie the terminator is coming out tomorrow and lighten my pocket by £150 probably.....urgh.
