Has any member had any experiences with Retro Refurbs? I have heard some conflicting comments about this company so would appreciate any "pointers" as I am thinking of buying from them/

Yes, they printed a custom translite for me plus I have bought two sets of SideBlades from them - great service and top quality.

Can’t fault them, 2 recent purchases from them myself.

I can only tell you of my experience. I placed and order weeks ago and was eventually told my order was being dispatched that day. when I asked for tracking etc 4 times I got no reply eventually, quite by chance I discovered even though it was several days later, it had NOT been dispatched as promised and still had not been . I emailed again but was met with a wall of silence so now I have had to make a PayPal claim. OK others may have had a better experience, I can only tell you what happened to me

Pete b/ Retro refurbs is great brought a tmnt full plastic set from him 2 weeks ago came very fast and looked amazing also had a Robocop set from him a few years back also great so no problems here

Giving an honest review here, stuff was OK but I wasn't overwhelmed. Repro translite was a little oversized and sideblades were grainy and didn't stick well.

I’ve never had any issues with Pete always dispatched the products quickly and had great service, bought a number of art blades. Whilst they’re lovely looking things and the art is top notch I had to agree the adhesive is very lacklustre. Even using a roller to get them well into place I’ve then found a few weeks later they start to peel. If it wasn’t for this small flaw they’d be perfect. To contrast bought some art blades from pinball life for my LOTR from the states years ago and they were WAY stickier and I’ve never had a peeling issue with them.

I have bought 3 or 4 sets of side 'blades' art from Pete, and have recommended him to other pinballers for things like translites.
Overall very good products. Great for games that do not have official ones.
Did have a slight issue with shipping once but found out Pete was very ill and in bed so you have to accept that Pinball is a small cottage industry and they are not run like Amazon - so if someone is ill then packages can mount up.
My parcel still turned up with an apology and a good reason for the delay.
He USED to offer a discount to members if I recall.
Always worth approaching him via email or on here - @PeteB
I would and will order from him again.

If there's a sizing problem with translites, let me know so I can adjust them. The measurements are always taken from the original I have at hand and sometimes the originals do vary - I've got 4x original LW3 translites here which are all different sizes.

The images can appear grainy when close up due to the plastic coating we put on top to prevent scratches. It's a tradeoff we have to live with unfortunately.

Sticky issues are not something I've had trouble with personally, but I have come up against issues with the wood on the insides of some cabinets being slightly greasy and dusty. If you think about solenoid dust and grime which builds up on the playfield, that generally gets cleaned off but no one ever bothers to clean the black wooden sides. I'd recommened thoroughly cleaning and degreasing the wood before applying decals, alchohol is good for this.

Also, as the SideBlades are made on the same material as our external cabinet decals (which have no reported sticky issues), then you can also use a hot air gun or hair dryer to adhere them to the wood more permanently.

I may look at a different material in future if this is becoming a common problem however. Trouble is, no one bothers to get in touch to say they're having problems so time goes on without me knowing and then one day you read about it on a forum lol!

I can't speak for anyone else but I did mention it and you advised using a hairdryer (which did help). I was sticking them to a freshly painted cabinet.

To be fair I have to say, I did also e-mail you about my side blades on my BBH not sticking and your advice on the hairdryer did work.

You always replied though and the quality of the sideblades were good.

I just wish he delivered what he promises in writing only to find that 6 days later it still had not been dispatched!
