Morning All.
Does anyone on here take on console repairs?

My sons Playstation 5 - appears that disc drive is not working. Fails to read discs. It works on everything else..

As it’s out of Warranty Sony want £210 to replace with refurbished PS5.. but only with 3 month warranty.

Just the optical drive? Should be easy enough. Did you try to clean the lens?

Haven’t taken it a part…

Maybe I should try a lens cleaning disc

Or just put a blast of compressed air in, see what happens.

I use to do this job on older machines, buy broken and fix for fun. Lens cleaning disk first and then install a new disc drive.
ifixit are great, always use their kits to repair things and their guides are good too.
