Stupid long day tomorrow, stupidly. However, anyone in anywhere between these two areas that knows a good place to stay for pinball and beer? Anyone fancy meeting up for a few games?
There's a venue in Preston town centre called Level in the back of the Guild Hall which has 3 pins, Stern Star Wars, Demo Man and SW Episode 1. The Star Wars plays good (and has no tilt bob), the Demo Man is ok but a little dark with the GI. I can't vouch for SW Episode 1 as why would any sane person put any money into one of those!
There's also a Shrek in Fishers but it's not worth playing at all, more filth than a Church Street hooker and has a vicious lean to the right.
That Shrek had a VUK that didn't work last summer so as well as the lean couldn't do anything that needed the ball on the upper playfield. I mainly played the Stern Star Wars the 4 times I was there. The SW Episode 1 is £1 per game rather than £2 for 3 games like the others.
Despite it being 70 miles away, its the nearest place to me [open to the general public] I know of with more than 1 pinball machine.
We Irish regularly travel much more than that for a league meet. I have travelled to Waterford from Belfast for a league meet returning the same day (430m round trip) Waterford guys have done the same only in reverse...
Double checked with sat nav, and it does say 70 miles. Its long enough that it ain't going to be done fortnightly, but no problem if its more like every couple of months. More than 100 miles (if coming back same day) is pushing it, I get too tired on the drive back if its too far. There is 90 minutes free parking in a street near it.
Been there, done that.
Old FT of mine about 7 years ago.... trolleyed from a couple streets away, over the level crossing, past the aquarium superstore and down my road [emoji106][emoji23]
