Predator by Pinball Brothers …Get to the chopper !

No chance it'd happen but it'd be great if you could link and Alien and a Predator together like two NBA Fast breaks for an Alien Vs Predator game

I wonder if there is a way that a bunch of perpetually offended Karen's on Pinside can somehow interfere and ruin this, so that loads of innocent people loose their money?

I thought that Skit B Predator was pretty sweet. The artwork and modes looked good fun.

I was in on one, luckily I managed to get a full refund from PayPal.

I’m so glad I resisted linking PayPal to my bank account rather than a credit card. Saved my **** from that total ****fest.

It’s still amazing how Kevin apparently managed to get away with zero financial consequences.

This happened before my time in Pinball. What convinced everyone at the time that he could actually manufacture Predator in numbers to make everyone hand over their money so easily? Was it the full amount or a deposit?

Did he show any manufacturing capabilities? Wasn't he just some guy in his Mom's garage?

It was a very different hobby at the time. Pretty much the only manufacturer was Stern.

Along comes a guy who claimed to have the rights to make the game and to his credit did produce one. Still not convinced if the whole thing was down to incompetence and over enthusiasm or a scam from day 1.

The theme was enough to get people on board plus remember this was when a game cost 3k new and not the current insane levels.

£500 deposit seemed a reasonable gamble to support the idea. Not the end of the world to lose that.

Other reliable people came on board to do the sculpts etc and regular updates were sent.

Then with the production of the first machine the rest of the money was due

Things then started getting flakey and updates became sporadic. Questions emerged about the license.

When it eventually all imploded it was about 7 months after payment so PayPal no longer covered it (although credit card companies did)

Others got burnt if they had sent direct payments or had bought from other initial purchasers.

Only positive thing that came out of it was the phrase “building pinballs is hard”. Not **** Sherlock…

You missed the part where the Pinside Karens made a massive fuss about the licencing and reported him to the licence holder to get the project shut-down.

No one will ever know why, people who had zero money invested in buying a Predator decided that simping on behalf of a multi-billion dollar licence holder, was more important than allowing a small production Predator pin to go ahead.

From the outside, they looked committed and capable. We saw updates on parts and a machine coming together.
I am very risk adverse and I was annoyed I missed out at the beginning so nearly bought in later.

Whilst I appreciate the licence issue was significant, how they handled it and a few other financial issues still leads me to question if they had the cash flow to actually deliver. But redesigning all artwork would have probably tipped anything over the edge.

I go with in incompetence and over enthusiasm.

Coincidentally a photo of the game popped up on my Facebook feed this morning (or maybe not coincidentally)

Even with hindsight it’s easy to see why we got suckered in. It wasn’t just vapourware. There was a fully working version with proper DMD animation etc. Looked as professional as the Sterns from 10 years before. I’ve bought NIBs that were released with less info
