What would be a approx price for a company to powder coat 4 legs, 2 side rails and lockdown bar in purple. Been quoted 180 locally. thanks.

4x legs, lockbar and side armour locally in Dorset = £60. About four months ago.
Myself and Kris (@Gonzo) spent the day in a powder coating workshop yesterday funnily enough, filming some legs getting powder coated for the channel.
The cost will largely depend on how much work they have in and the size of their oven. More work + smaller over means less running costs and quicker turn around.

All depends on colour and finish you want also on what quality job you want
Also there is a huge difference if power prices
Those prismatic colour s davey talks about are amazing but ridiculous price

Couldn’t agree more Chris. From what we saw yesterday, most of the powders come in huge boxes. So picking a stock colour without too much faffing about will be cheaper than some of the more exotic finishes and multiple processes. Certainly getting in a whole box of bespoke colour for what is a small job will probably cost the earth, especially as the colour pigments have a short(ish) shelf life dependant on weather conditions (heat) and humidity.

£180 doesn't sound unreasonable and is similar to what I pay locally for work from a 'small' powder coating business that's reliable and does good quality work; preparation is key and they do that well. If you can afford it and the company has a good rep then can't see the point of scouting around too much but obviously if you've got another option nearby then get a second quote. I prefer to be able to go and see/chat to the company or else I'd look further afield but then there's the added cost of P&P

The one here I would think £60 Mike, you can drop at me if your passing normally a week or so

I payed £45 for a lockdown bar and two side rails, but that was a stock non fancy colour they had already.

As @CHRIS B PINBALLS mentioned the cost of the powder varies massively. There was a box of a plain standard colour which cost £100 but apparently some of the more fancy finishes are £450 for a box of powder.

Personally I think Chris's prices are excellent value.

Normally anywhere between £70 and £120 but for stock colour. If you need to buy powder in then add at least another £80+ on top,

Often minimum order price and no more for 9 parts than 1.

£80 for my GOTG
Legs,
lollipop rails
lockdown bar
speaker panel
hinges

Depends hugely on what powdercoating they are using. The guys I use use Prismatic Powdercoating, which is one the best. I got legs, side rails, lockdown bar and hinges and that was £150, including clear lacquer. That was a Candy Colour.

£60, even for a normal colour seems amazing! @Juggler Spencer have you got some pictures of the owner…..😂
