Possible UK tariff?

Seems like a relatively random selection of items. Can’t see the US crapping themselves over tariffs on “Die cast metal miniature models”. Maybe all the RPG kids are buying them by the truckload and ignoring the plastic ones from Games Workshop.

I’m already out of buying NIB games at the current price levels so sticking another 1 - 2k on a game won’t be likely to change that.

Is this the same list the EU came up with back in 2020? remember 'pintables' being on that one.

Even without retaliatory tariffs parts from China that go into making them will be subject to 50% tariffs, prices going up for sure.

It's made as a coin op game even if most now sold to private owners

Hardly fair retaliation as UK doesn't sell any new pinball to the US

Location might help Pins escape the worst, only really made in one place and Chicago is solidly Dem leaning, would hope any reciprocal tariffs are directed at red areas and big tech.

Weird thing I saw in the news was that Trump was setting a 10% tariff on imports from the UK as a retaliation to the tariffs we already apply to US imports, whats that about?

Is he referring to the normal Duty and VAT thats charged on imports from pretty much every country?

It’s not even worked out on VAT etc, it’s simply the % goods trade deficit per country divided by 2. As we have balanced trade we ‘win’ by getting the default 10%.

The only countries not to get tariffs? Russia, Belarus, Borth Korea and Cuba!

Yes. If you buy a new pinball machine you pay 20% VAT. This may not hurt sales of cheaper goods too much but how many more games would be sold without it ? Quite a lot.

If they do impose a 10% tariff which is added first then 20% vat on the tariff as well as the item cost, it will add another 12%. Stern pro hits £9k unless stern/electrocoin/retailer cut their margins?

Who cares at that point, don't buy them I won't be until all of this orange idiot show is over.

As a hobby we would be pretty screwed if we decide to boycott replacement parts etc. Where do you draw the line?

It’s easy for me to say I won’t buy American food, motorbikes, jeans etc as I don’t actually want them at the best of times.

Would I stop buying a board etc to get a game back up and running properly?

I’d be utterly screwed if I decided to stop paying to see American artists perform.

TBH I sotra feel like this a bit too, I won't be going out my way buying American products if there's an alternative, but Chigago overwhelmingly voted against this nonsense.

There are many parts to what Trump is doing.

1) Balance a trade deficit where countries tax imports in but benefit from a lower cost selling into the states
2) Force organisation to build in America and give jobs and taxes
3) Force Americans to buy locally made products
4) Generate income from the taxes
5) Establish a new world order where you get onside with Trump or go the other way. He may believes that he will have more on his side and the others will fall in.

Most of the above have been tried before and not needed well. They may not end well this time.

Trump is a force that you can’t beat by getting angry with him. You have to play it calmly. Or we will all die of stress over the next 4 years. Or 8, if he forces a change of the constitution. Or delays marshal law.
