I need a can (or two) of Krylon Triple Thick to save the backglass in my GOLD BALL. It seems this really is the mutts nuts and nothing else has been tried and tested and been as good, but I'd rather not pay £25+ per can on eBay. It's really hard to get hold of outside the US. I looked into importing it bulk direct from the US but as it's a hazardous substance it'd have to be shipped over in a proper container which would cost silly money for a small-scale one-off.

But there's a craft material supplier in the UK who is supposedly getting some in within the next few days. They sell other Krylon spray products for around £18-19, offer discounts on buying 2 or more and have free delivery on orders over £25.

So, I thought it might be worth organising another of my little group buys :p

This one is simple. Let me know if you want a can. Or two. Or three. Depending on demand and supply we may only get one each and in the event there's more demand than supply then it's one each, first come, first served.

I don't currently have a price but will assume around the £18/can range. I won't add any mark-up; just divide the total cost equally.

Now, to get around it all getting expensive with posting them to you the other part of the deal is I will bring them to NLP for distribution. Hopefully everyone who wants some with either be there or know someone who's going who can pick it up for them.

I've no idea how many cans the supplier will have, but if/when the order is placed I'd appreciate being paid via PayPal gift as my bank account is a bit low ;)

What do you think?

I bought some last year from whichcrafts at around £12 a can plus postage. And yes, nothing else compares!

That sounds like a mental price. I've never paid more than £5-£6 a can for Krylon triple thick in the UK, from craft stores, and I've had about 8 to date.

Maybe it would be better to find an alternative product with similar properties that is easier to source in the UK.

If you guys are really set on Krylon, would it not be a better idea to try and bulk import some directly yourselves? Any that you don't sell to collectors, sell on to craft stores, I'll bet they will take some.

edit :-

Jesus, they have put the price up even in the US now since I last bought some.

Looks like you can get it for $11-$12 a can in single quantities

I looked allover around my area and phoned numerous places but none had ever heard of it so I bit the bullet and paid £25.00inc delivery from Pondskippercrafts.
Also spent a small fortune on rattle cans..... Expensive game pinball restoration.

Thanks for all the responses guys!

Yes, it seems as though the price has gone up considerably in the US where it's made. During my search I came across a pattern of US folks commenting that it was getting a little trickier to find even there, e.g., no longer always available in Walmart or Sears. I think it's suffering as a product because its constituent components are highly toxic and their use is being restricted by legislation, prices of those components have risen, but also restrictions on postage of dangerous chemicals particularly pressurised flammables in the US but also here too. It doesn't surprise me that Rainbow Silks no longer post it.

Ahh... I think I've found somewhere fairly near to me doing it for just under £11 a can. They have free postage on orders over £30. Trying to get into contact with them to check stock levels...

Got 2 emails from the supplier I contacted. First said the Krylon shouldn't have been listed on their website as they can no longer post it. So I replied no problem, I'd come to the shop and collect, how many have you got in stock? They replied to say none as it's actually in their warehouse in the U.S.!

I shall continue my search...

Pretty sure they ain't gonna let you on the plane home with twenty cans in your hand luggage!

Ok, got another lead...

Supplier in the US has said if I ordered around 18-24 cans they could ship it but it will take around 21 days, so no good for NLP. However, if the price is good it could still be worth doing.

The problem then would be distributing to everyone across the UK as you're not allowed to post aerosols and I can't find any cheap couriers that take them (UPS will... for £32 next day!).

Surely you can post aerosols ? We have them delivered all the time at work.

They are now a restricted item..

You can only send Aerosols for personal grooming or medicinal purposes !

even then they need an ID8000 label.
Saying that if they are packaged ok whos gonna know ?

Royal mails allowance on Aerosols
Including deodorants, body sprays, hair sprays, shaving and hair removal creams, medicinal aerosols for prevention or cure such as flea sprays, etc.)
Valves must be protected by a cap or other suitable means to prevent inadvertent release of the contents during transport. Aerosols must be tightly packed in strong outer packaging and must be secured or cushioned to prevent any damage. Volume per item must not exceed 500ml. No more than two aerosols can be sent in any one package. An ID8000 label must be applied

You could always distribute them at the next show NLP/Nerg/SCS etc, it's not like they are going to be arriving here anytime soon anyway.

If you can get them at a reasonable price I will have 1 or 2 and I am in no rush

Well peel my tangerines.
What a ridiculous society we live in these days. The paths to heaven must be strewn with brightly coloured postmen.

I wonder how many 'explosions' have actually occurred in the last 50 years ?

There was only 1 important explosion in recent history. Had something to do with a couple of airplanes and some very tall skyscrapers...

I'll be in for one if the group deal goes ahead please @Nedreud , just got BK with a flaky backglass that needs stabilising!
