As most people know I've bought a Congo to use as a donor machine for my MM project.
Thing is I feel bad as Congo is quite a good game, so do I break or not?

Congo is a pretty cool game, in fact I actually prefer to play it to MM :eyebrows: Used to be NBAFB was the sacrificial machine of choice. So what do you need from it specifically ?

End of the day tho, yr game - do with it as you please !

I personally don't think any working machine should be broken down. But I also think people have the right to do as they will with their own property.

If you're passionate about your project, then do what you need to do.
Is it a ton more hassle to sell Congo and use the money to buy parts? I guess there's probably loads of bits you'd have to pick up from loads of different sellers.

It would be a shame to put a machine down, but it's your call, as long as you don't regret the decision, either way.

Ive been no help :blah:

*edit* Another option could be to swap your Congo with a collector who has a cosmetically dodgy one, or one that has a duff board and bad playfield or something.
again though, would add time and expense.

I agree with you on that, but non-working WPC-95 machines are as rare as hen's teeth. I've been looking for some time with no luck.

That is a hell of a thing to ask us pinheads.
However, I speak from a lover of pinball and not a particular lover of Congo (the game hates me so far).

We would all feel much better if this Congo was past saving but having said that, the parts you liberate might save more than one other machine. This is how the classic car world exists and I don't question where a used part comes from when replacing parts on my Beetle. A point comes where something that is un-saveable today, becomes commercially saveable in the future.

Will Congo make the MM project achievable or is there still a lot more parts required?

If it's a working Congo in decent nick then I'd say don't break it. I went with the swap it for another working one with a knackered pf option....there must be someone out there who'd do a swap with you.

Is Congo the only WPC game that shares the same amount of parts?

NBA FB is easier looking at it. There are 2 of them being killed here as well as a Congo, some guys in the States reckon they can build from scratch - good luck with that!!! Congo has the wrong apron which is one issue, but then Congo DOES have a Williams DMD panel.

For those saying don't get rid of working machines, it's not in essence the death of a working machine, there will be no change to the level of machines in use, it's just that there will be extra MMs for those who succesfully complete. The fact is you need the boards, transformer, line filter box, a cabinet and wiring looms and to get all of those individually would cost about as much as getting a scrappy JY, Congo or NBA machine plus with a machine you get a shed load of generic parts.

I agree NBA is a better option, but I can't find one. I'm in no rush so I will keep my eyes open for a non-working NBA. Other WPC-95 titles are:

From this list there's only a couple of titles that are not premium prices: NBA, Congo, Junk Yard and NGG.

I've seen an nba for sale recently but can't for the life of me remember where. I'll try looking back through emails in a mo see if it's amongst ones I've been offered

Oh it was nick olney he sold it last week sorry dude

I fancy a Congo and have a space to fill imminently ! PM me details if you're thinking of selling ;) ?

Thanks.

Don't you dare knock No Good Gofers Its one of the best games out there.
Its certainly premium in my book.
I do not agree breaking up any machine but you need one for what you are doing so if any then the one most suited to your quest and if its gotta be then NBA Fastbreak must be the fav choice. You will get more from a NBAF than any other machine. The only snag is the speaker panel is Bally.
