I will add it to the list of replacement boards available. Not bad price at all, even the cost ready to go with all the microprocessor, ASIC and EPROM.
There are loads of 5v drop protection devices out there now. It makes sense to integrate it into a new improved board.

Are those ASICS hard to come by?
You can buy them. The ASIC is not cheap.
If the original board is the issue, they are easy to swap over with the correct tool. Using the wrong tool can crack them.

Are those ASICS still manufactured? Or are we just running old stock that will eventually run out?
I believe it was a custom part for Williams and we are using original stock and no one has reversed engineered it.
Mr pinball in Oz has "several thousand" of the ASIC chips, and he has the tech info to remake an alternate version, no need to panic.
