Pinfest 2024 Thanks and appreciation thread....

Wanted to say a massive thanks to all for this weekend.

Thanks to Phil (and family!) for all the stress, hard work, dedication and commitment putting this on and pulling everything together. Having watched Phil continually bouncing around all day yesterday it must be a labour of love!
Thanks also to everyone that donated machines - without you there would be no event (or it would be a VERY small quiet one!)

Unfortunately my visit this year, whilst all very last minute, was split between looking after my better half (who came down with what seemed like sciatica on Thursday night) and spent most of Friday night in the room in pain, and taking my Step daughter around on (mainly) the friday night. She is on the spectrum, so massive gatherings of people can cause very stressful panic attacks - Thankfully i think she was so mesmerised by all the machines that it didnt happen. I did see a really quick progression from both flippers to one flipper to controlled flipping, so that bodes well for the future - she is 13, so a budding pinball player in the making there!!

I wanted to enter the comps (Open and Classics) however just didnt get there. My bad, however after all the above just wasnt feeling it. Really regretting it, but theres always next year.... ;)

Massive thanks to Scott (Lovely to meet you @RetroHeed) and a massive thank you for the room on Fri night. Thank you also to Alan (@Atlantis) for then reciprocating for Scott on the Saturday. Really glad we managed to get it all sorted out in the end!!
Links to this, the one lady that spent most of her time on reception i thought was nothing short of excellent jigging rooms about, trying to find availability etc etc...

Was great to meet @David retro - Mate you are so much younger than i thought you were! (I'll catch up with you about the boards you were on about as that peaked my interest!). Plus i'll let you know how the pinblaster goes!

To @Ant-H, @Silverpaolo, @DAD, @roadshow16 and @Garry Sp8 - Lovely to meet you all, and thank you for the stuff - and sorry for talking all your ears off (Craig - sorry for interrupting your family dinner!)
To @Nutty - Really sorry i missed you.... You were the only person i missed that i was planning to catch up with... Will have to catch up soon in some other way!
To @Bobbdobalina - Glad we finally managed to catch up and sorry for whisking you away and leaving your curry to go cold.... I'm starting building this afternoon... :D

Was great to see (and catch up with briefly) some of the "old timers" such as the likes of @Matt Vince @replicas @Epotech @bartron @Telboy @Poibug @Wayne J - Good to see you are all well (or getting better!).
Great to see (again, briefly) my fellow Admins @mufcmufc @Calimori - even if it was only for 5 mins... Thanks again massively for all you do on here!

And a massive thanks to everyone else I havent mentioned that I managed to catch up with...!!

Next time i need to be more organised and not so last-minute. And also to spend time drinking beer, eating curry and to chill a little!

Really enjoyed my first PinFest, thanks to all the organisers of the event more widely and the individual comps, and those who donated machines. Great job 👏

Great meeting you Paul, shame it was at the last minute and really interesting to see first hand you work on the dumbass boards which confirmed what a great product they are. Don’t worry there was plenty of warmth left in the curry so didn’t go to waste 😂

My second Pinfest and I thought it was a belter. Great organisation and both years have been greeted by @Big Phil who is very welcoming and helpful
Definitely makes a difference staying over night so the beer can flow.
Great meeting a few more members @andrew.m @Asiapinball , @Dave Bishop ,@Paul , @steve brum but unfortunately missed John @JAG555 , hopefully next time 🤞.
Getting more comfortable each year as I’m still a newbie to pinball, but Pinfest is now nailed in the calendar!
Great selection of pins this year and I’m in the great position of not having played many titles so there are so many that are completely new to me with the notables and most enjoyable being legends of Valhalla, GTF, Wh20,and JP2.
Only regrets are not getting the chance to play EJ or PF….. but there’s always next year.

…oh and bonus is my better half really enjoyed it despite bringing her book with us to read in the sunshine as “pinballs your thing”. Needless to say the book was never opened!!

Went for the day on Saturday - had absolutely cracking day!
Played loads of games, chatted to loads of people and really enjoyed the VPin talk (should have asked for some forum names of the folks in that one to put names to faces)
A huge thank you to Phil and all the crew for putting on another amazing event :)

Lovely time as always. Well done to everyone involved organising and thanks to all who shared their machines. Some absolutely beautiful machines shared with everyone. Special mention to the top notch air con in all the pinball rooms.

Fantastic time at at my first fest... enjoyed the very well run tournament (those people running that were ruished off feet!!!!) adn the selection and variet of machines was fantastic... Both of us appreciated the aircon in the main room also... missed the talks (wish i hadnt) but wil be back again next year where, i'm sure, the machnes will have spille dout all over the hotel!

Hello everyone. Was my 3rd time at Pinfest yesterday. I really enjoyed the event. Thanks to the organisers who put on a great event and to all the people who kindly donated their machines for the weekend. I am only a novice player but I learnt a lot from watching the more experienced players which I hope will improve my playing. It was really nice to chat to Keith from Kettering again and also another Keith, Ian, and Mike from Holland. Everyone was really friendly and thank you for making me feel welcome in your community. I will definitely be at Pinfest 2025 and will also be making a trip to The Pinball Office in the next few months now I know about it. If anyone knows of a Data East Back To The Future Pinball machine anywhere please let me know as I am keen to play that machine. Cheers, Owain.

Thanks to the many many wonderful people (to many to list) who put this event together, we had a cracking good time. Thanks to Alan and Paul for helping us with a room also, we were really really last minute this year. Really glad we made it down on the Thursday also this year tbh, hoping to do the same at the next one.

We met with the familiar people and some good new people, enjoyed the banter, the beer and the batting it out on some games.

I spoke with a few others who were kinda feeling the pinball lull at the moment, me also. But after being at the event its sparked my interest in the hobby some more. It must have had an effect on my son also as we were playing Godzilla at 11am this morning :)

The top tier two best games played for me were Pulp Fiction and Elton John. I also really liked Mata Hari, Harlem Globetrotters and Jaws, plus we continued to enjoy many others. Space Team was really cool, wish I could hear the audio on this one actually.

Thanks again all for a top class weekend 👌

Sorry we didn't get to have much of a chat Paul, thanks so much again for sorting the coin mechs mate, you're a legend 🙌

Sorry this is late but I got back late Monday then had a 5 1/2 drive on Tuesday to Cardiff for the usual day job. Totally exhausted. Starting to recover now.

I won't do a huge long thank you message as I do every year. It just gets repetitive. As does the dedication of everyone involved in this event. Just when you think everyone has give 100% the previous year, they surprise you by giving that little bit more the next.

Tremendous event with so much hard work put in. Not only over the weekend but the months leading up to it. Thank you to everyone involved.

Fabulous range of pins and superb maintenance when needed. Can't speak highly enough of the tech crew.

Exceptionally run tournaments with the team coping well during some very stressful moments. And on the odd occasion, some disrespectful moments. Please remember, the tournament team give up many hours to do this for you. Some decisions or actions may not go your way but please remain respectful.

Huge honour to be inducted along with Peter into the hall of fame. Thank you for all the nominations and votes.

Thanks to Atlantis for arranging the David Fix trip. The talk was very well received and I certainly enjoyed it. Thank you to Martin for hosting.

A lot of the team are drained. Both physically and emotionally. We need positivity, not negativity. Stay nice people.

Just to add my thanks for to all involved. I'd have to say I thought this was the best show yet, what amazing machines! David Fix was excellent and his wife (who I shan't name as she likes to keep off the web) spent time with me and the Dutch guys and were genuinely interested in what we were doing. To take 30 minutes out of what i am sure was a very tiring schedule meant a huge amount to us.
Sorry Forbidden Planet was out of action Saturday evening, the left flipper plate broke in 2! How dare Williams only make a flipper capable of a quarter million flips! I'm not sure many people *got* what it was, but those I talked to were very kind. It'll be back at some point better (and hopefully prettier)...
Hotel staff were excellent as was the hotel and air con! Onwards to the next one.

Well done and many thanks for all the work involved in this years Pinfest, truely is a fantastic event, Had a great weekend (My second Pinfest) with my son & son in law. The only downside was the midnight sambuca shots as my son turned 25 on Sunday :tut:. Great to meet @Sixtoe and talk about the Vpin & VR world of Pinball. Managed to enter the stall ball comp and get my booby prize . Sorry I missed you @Paul read my messages a bit late.

Just want to say thank you to Dave at retro arcade specialists for donating money to be included in the £1000 prize money for the ladies comp and for the winners of the NBA comp . It was appreciated by the winners . Thank you again . 🙏🏻

Also want to thank the team for keeping all the machines going including for the ladies comp , ladies social and NBA comp . No show without you . This includes the repair team , NLP , peter and Helen the electric team , comp organisers ( including Claire , Vicki , Diane , Traci and Judith - the brides of pinbot 😀) , front of house staff and all the communicators and of course Big Phil and Pauline . All those that donated pins are just amazing - the selection to play was huge from the latest to the old EMs that I love - breaking them down , transporting them and vice versa takes a lot of time and muscle 💪
Finally to the Scottish pinball team and Daz and Geoff for running the NBA tournament while I had to attend to the ladies comp . A big thank you and appreciation xx
I have just about recovered and am pleased to say - I do not have Covid 😀
