I grabbed this today after the clowns in blackpool didn't renew it (partly because one is dead and the other isn't in great health).

I wanted it before some other lot of cowboys set up and trade of Bob Thomson's reputation, but what does the community think we should do with it?

a) shelve it.
b) redirect to pin info
c) link to my site for pinball repair/sales and pinball info for pinball chat etc?

Any other suggestions?

Phil

Shelve it as games still turn up with Bobs cards in and folks who googled it got the Blackpool clowns

And get pinball Nirvana and pinball utopia to complete the set!

And don't mention THE auction

Oh dear just did

It's a shame as all the guys who have been in this hobby pre2005 remember Pinball Paradise as a name you could trust and oused quality. That is until the Blackpool muppets took the name and run it into the ground.
I think it could once again work but would need a relaunch and let everybody know that Pinball Paradise was once again in the hands of someone you could trust and was again a sign of quality.

I think shelve is the only option, sad thing is I could have registered it before those idiots got it, but foolishly out of respect to Bob I didn't.... wish I had as I could have stopped them.

I'm too new to know what went on, but I guess that over the years there have been the good, the bad and the ugly in the pinball world. People are People. Shame to waste a domain so you could point it to a special page on here to tell people they've come to a helpful place.

Think too much sh*t attached to that name now.... you adopt it and you'll be correcting people on it for years I reckon.

Shelve it Phil, very good of you to do this .trashing the reputation of the Pinball fraternity does noone any good.

I got my first game from Pinball Paradise. It has been fantastically reliable

Hi Phil,
More than happy this end - happy to provide the server space to host on it you want also :)
I would have said maybe some fitting info about bob - what he did with some pics etc, then some more recent history about the domain (needs to be factual tho and not use words like ‘crooks’)... as always, happy to have any links into here (as long as from decent sources!!).

Thanks!
Paul

I think it should point to a holding page in the memory of Bob. There did used to be one on the net but that has long since gone, not sure if that was his webpage for a while after he'd passed away.

I think that is a great idea

did they put the price up before you got there?

Heard that many times, you looked on their site and saw xyz at £2000, but you arrived and they'd changed it to £3000! What a retarded way of doing business....

No it was bought on ebay and delivered by courier but wasn't quite as described, infact you Phil had to send me an LED kit and bill them

I messaged someone selling a Daytona USA on eBay last week to ask how much he wanted. There was only 1 poorly lit picture on the auction. He rang me and introduced himself as Andy from Blackpool which set alarm bells ringing. He was going to send me pictures of the game later that day but I’m still waiting. Fairly sure it was Andy Reed

brain cancer... been a right horrible HORRIBLE time for them all, maybe karma i dont know but steve isn't having a good time either. I liked them both to talk to but they did many things that were not right.....

Whoever has the pinball owners association archives should be good for pictures and articles

Bobs technical stuff was very informative even for the non tekkie like myself!

Video stuff almost non existent but you can spot Bob and his machines plus an interview here:

Wow, a joung Ad Jonker at 29mins, Oh and Steve Brum. Anyone else on there who's still around?
