After the talk of how easy it is to buy pinball machines abroad, I thought I would share the details of a trip I took today to pick up a Congo bought over on the German Pinball website.

06:00 - Drove down to Folkestone and caught the train to Calais
08:00 - Left Calais bound for Breda, Holland
10:35 - Arrived in Breda and had a few games on the machine
11:15 - Paid, loaded it up and set off on the return trip.
13:45 - Arrived in Calais, had a wander round the shops and bought a few bottles of Vino
15:00 - Arrived back in Folkestone
16:30 - Back home, unloaded van, made a cuppa and played a few games!

Cost me £60 return for the train, and a tankful of diesel. Great day, met a really nice pinhead (Michel) and got a new toy to pull apart!

very nice, great fun Congo.
so you got a train to Folkestone then hired a van? i am confused how the van and the train fit in

....and go on, how much was the Congo?

That sound so easy it makes it all worth while.
Not bad if you live on the south coast ,or near to it.
Well done that man.
Good fun game Congo, enjoy.

Lol, Sorry, I should have said the EuroTunnel train. Drove the van straight on the train, 1/2 hour to Calais.

I always use the Eurotunnel on EU bike trips, so easy and quick. At the other end you just drive out and can be on the main routes in minutes.
If people are convinced a machine looks good, it make sense to take the trip over for the same money as some places in the UK.
I have done lunch in Dussledorf, Germany and tea in London before.

How much did the trip cost u? Fuel, van hire, euro ticket ect

van was borrowed from work, cost to take the van + passengers on the train was £60 return, £65 in diesel, 9 Euros for lunch (2 baguettes and a packet of crisps)!
