Howdy,

Been after an insert for one of my machines for a few years.

Its a Data East Simpsons machine and its the Bonus Hold insert as seen just above the flippers

Tried on the wanted section a year or so ago but no takers. Anybody kno where I could get such a thing or maybe even a trashed playfield ?

Its an orange 3.5 inch oval insert (although it looks banana shaped from above) mines got a big hole where a bulb has melted its way through

original request here.

Pinball Resource is he place to get inserts but they don't do these. I have a feeling they're reasonably unobtanium so getting one out of an existing knackered pf may be your only chance.

Bit of a faff. Absolute last resort but if you gotta have it and have no choice whatsoever!!! But!! If Rudis hotdog one fits, leaving a small oval gap. You could fill the gap with a wooden insert and get someone like @ABSOLUTE CONTROL to make you a decal to stick over the entire thing, covering the wood but leaving you with an illuminated insert!!

Just an idea.

Ok

I think its oval but will hoke the table out tomorrow and double check, I will also take a close up picture of the damage especially for dan and his Pervy needs

Rudi where did your hotdog shaped one come from ?

Is it possible to make replacement inserts from lexan or a similar material? As Gaz said you could always look at getting a decal made for the colour and text on the decal or you could make your own by printing onto transparent vinyl and using that. Not sure how hard wearing it would be but surely it's worth a try?

In work at mo..

Heres a picture of the playfield from the back which shows the insert as oval, i will double check later when im taking some shots for Dan anyhow but I remember thinking i thought it was banana shaped before looking at the underside.

Also thought I could just fill the hole with superglue and then sand it down flat again but would prefer a replacement insert

This is where we need access to a laser cutter. Maybe a group funded machine

My next door neighbour has a small CNC machine. It just about manages 3mm sheet steel and does a great job making electronic PCBs, so it should do a fantastic job of cutting plastic. I need to redo all the inserts on my Paragon which are terribly cupped and I can't find one single place to source them all from.

What plastic are inserts made from? Can't imagine it'd be bad to use something like 4-5mm acrylic/Perspex?

TBH, for just a single insert this wouldn't be too much of a chore to do by hand. Acrylic is fairly easy to cut and finish.

Not nearly as bad as our local radio station advertising Ship Fest, you can hear the DJ trying to not laugh every time its played.

There's a supermarket type thing in my town called bj's value house..... Kinda awkward having to explain to my 3 yr old at the times mum why is he going around saying he loves bj's. They sell cheap toys and sweets amongst other things but to a lil boy that's all there needs to be lol

I take POS in an acronym for something rude?
In our office it's the acronym for a pile of s**t. i.e. That POS system......

I ordered my PETG from that Company mentioned above - great service and i'd certainly recommend them. I used some of their stuff to make a repro shooter cover for my R&B. I don't need it now as a nice guy in the USA send me his spare original which is in great shape.

Jeezus, that is bad.

Looks like cutting a bit of acrylic to fit will be your best bet.
