The Pinball Finder app on iPhone has been re-released following a major rebuild.
The database is crowd sourced, and relies on all users updating and contributing.
Here’s the idea,
If you find and play a machine on the database, you tap “I played it” and this updates the date of the most recent siting. The last sited date appears on the search, so you can gauge how likely the machine is to be there. If you can’t find a machine that is listed then you tap “needs updating” so that someone else can edit the listing with more accurate information. Listings that have been flagged as needing updating appear on the search results with a ? superimposed on the reported condition icon. If the machine is definitely removed, it can be deleted. ( in case of malicious deletions, it actually sits for 60 days in the recently deleted section, and can be re-instated.)
The database is a worldwide resource, so you can search locally, or set a distant location anywhere in the world, and see when the nearest pinball fix is.
There’s also a list of recent additions that today includes The Simpsons Pinball Party at the Bear Creek Saloon, Pagosa Springs, Colarado, as well as a TSSP at the Grand Casino, Penzance !!
Finally a Nearby Events section has been added. Still under development, currently its just a list of upcoming events, but its hoped that in the next release, you’ll be able to add machines that will be at the event.
If you have any feedback there’s a facebook page for general discussion, http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Pinball-Finder/127512117306221?fref=ts or you can e-mail me, and I’ll forward to the developer.
