Flicking through an old computer magazine (Commodore User April 1989) I found this write up on the Pinball '89 Show at the New Horticultural Hall, London.

Never heard of this one ??? - maybe some of the really old farts on here who were active on the scene at the time know of it ;)😁..... @steve brum @Gary Flower @Mike Parkins

Organiser Alan Goldsmith had one thing kind of right .....

"right now you can still pick up old pintables for about £100 or £150, but in 10 years time they will be fetching thousands" ........ well it took more like 20 years, and not all titles but yeah he was right.

Ill sort out some pics shortly

At the time it was the largest ever UK pinball show with over 70 machines . First show where transport costs were covered although there was some wrangling with the organisers for this after the event. Deith leisure provided 4 new games including Banzai Run.

Dez Riddler had 20 restored EMs and we took away a Wizard for £150 , as l fancied one. Sounds cheap but we had my £75 Comet £80 Genesis and £25 Paragon at the show

Promised celebrities were generally a no show but mike reid and the hairy cornflake were spotted on the Saturday

Excellent !

What happened to Alan ?

Don't know how I missed that one... Alan Goldsmith? I got involved about that time though, meeting up with the POA regulars at a pub in Woking - Bob Thompson chaired the POA of course and I was secretary for a while. We put on several shows over the years, mostly around Haslemere area but the last one I remember clearly was at the Brum NIA in 1996.

I have an awful feeling that might be me in Steve's' first picture, playing what looks like a Stern Lightning (to the right of a Black Knight). And it may be my Wild Fyre first in the row behind (yellow cabinet with flames).
