Not sure if this has been done but got me thinking when I offered my AC/DC up for Trade for MET or TWD. Nothing came of my trade ad but I did get an offer of a short term swap for a couple of pins which I didnt really consider at the time. However on reflection due to the fact not a lot seems to be up for sale ATM and everyone is in fear of selling in case they can’t replace would it be in the interests of the community to may do these short term swaps of say 3-6 mth.

I do realise this kinda happens out of the forum anyway and I actually have my AC/DC doing the rounds ATM amongst a few members. This is at there cost of transport only with no money actually changing hands.

So this it got me thinking instead of my continual never ending goal of trying to tick every pin off a never ending list of not played/owned and having to buy/sell to do so it may be in all our interests to try get this implemented somehow.

Issues I see is
a) transport
b) trust on both parties to look after the pin they have on loan

Transport could be via the obvious, Martin or arranged between parties with collection in person by sharing the cost of Fuel/Van hire.

Trust would be your standing in the community ie the likes of Me vs Andy Backhouse! Nuff Said  new members or lurkers it would be down to doing your due diligence and RL conversation via Landline/mobile. All this is on a bend it mend it gentleman’s /woman’s agreement.

Thoughts and Problems anyone can see with this?

I will kick off the thread with my swap wants.

WTT - AC/DC Premium, Nice HUO, ColourDMD & a few tasteful mods.

Would Like in no particular order and any condition - MET Prem preferred, TWD Premium only, TNA, WH20 many more but but see what comes.

It's something I have definitely thought about as I would like to play something different but don't want to sell my LOTR. I would only do it with a known and trusted forum member or someone I've met.

I’ll be up for some temp trades along these lines from mid July onwards once the new pinroom is finished and I’ve got my games back. Think it’s a good way to play new machines if you don’t have any you want to let go of for good.

I'm up for temp trades too. I can't imagine wanting to sell any of my pins in the foreseeable future but would love to try different pins.

I dunno what I'd want to trade at the moment though.
I'll definitely happily loan out some when I have to get the pinroom done though.

I've probably done more than 10 temp swaps over the years and am definitely up for more.

Can offer:
Medieval Madness
Johnny Mnemonic
Star Trek Pro
Dirty Harry
X-Men Pro
Corvette
Indy 500
Spiderman
Guardians of Galaxy Pro

Would like:
Dialed In
Elvira House of Horrors
Stranger Things
Aerosmith
Beatles

but probably not much else.

Based in Swanage and would have to use Martin to do the transport. Would be thinking swap for 3-6 months.

Swaps work well but can often end up being far longer than proposed. I had someone’s GnR for three years or so before our combined inertia was finally overcome to swap back 😂

A good timeframe for the swap could be between shows to cut down on transportation. Turn up to Pinfest with your X machine, leave with somebody else's Y machine - swap back at someone's league meet, or Swavesey or any other comp which requests donations.

@Telboy s SM was doing the circuit round the Midlands for well over 4 years.

Like others, I've done many temp swaps over the years.
I usually take the opinion that any machine I receive will leave in at least as good as state as it left. Rubbers, bulbs, generic switches, flipper rebuilds, etc. are all usual maintenance and should be undertaken by the person in possession of the machine. Larger items such as DMDs, game specific ramps, node boards, etc. (assuming general failure rather than misuse) are the responsibility of the owner.
