Pin2DMD gets an update in resolution...

Wont fit in a standard speaker panel - However still WANT!!! :)
Will take it up to CGC size display.
ColorDMD will copy this quickly (as they did with using the RGB LED panels).
Great idea.
Just have to get @MadNat and maybe some of the other talent on here to do something. Get some addressable LEDs round the lights. A pair of the 4 inch speakers used in cars now are so much better than the original Bally Williams speakers.
I do have a spare CGC DMD frame.......

Amazing. Thanks for the link! Really exciting development on what was already an incredible (and generous) project.

Unfortunately the biggest issue at the moment is the availability of the STM32H743. None from the usual suppliers or fabricators, the only ones about are on aliexpress - but then you're taking a punt whether they are legit or not, and then additionally you have to do some pretty hairy SMD soldering once the assembled boards arrived.

Initially I'm going to try it with 1 (and two panels) and then see how that pans out.

PCBWay do yeah, but they won't have availability of that processor. Even under normal circumstances they don't keep that much stock on hand, and tend to order in most stuff anyway, specific for that build. I get my stuff done with JLCPCB, but like everywhere else they don't have stock either, so you have to get the boards made without that and then solder it yourself once they arrive (just the processor - everything else will be assembled).

RS seem to have stock... (if i am reading this right).... https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/microcontroller-development-tools/1939787/

You know MUCH more on these Microcontrollers than i ever will (and not sure how that price compares to others.. i suspect knowing RS it;s 2x the price!)

Yeah that's the development board mate - what we need is the actual processor chip itself, this guy:

Looks like a fun project - but like 4K TV screens... you need the content to really take advantage of the higher resolution. Who can we rope in to help drive the first HD colourisation (cough... @slippifishi ??? :D ).

Also the panels look pretty pricey 4 x £35 - with a higher spec processor to drive them - you're probably looking at a £300 with populated PCB, RGB panels, plastics and speakers? Until the content is available - wouldn't a regular PIN2DMD @ £100-150 be tricky to beat? Driving 4 screens you'd probably need a chunky 12V power supply.

Just double checked the specs of the Panels - I made a mistake - you need 2 - they are 128x64 dots per panel, I'd assumed 64x32 (d'oh).

Some cleaver logic could upscale like colorDMD does to smooth out the x2 image, sorta cheat the HD hehe

I have one of the large Pin2dmd panels here that would be for baywatch etc. Happy to sell it for what I paid Mike for it if it’s any use to anyone.
