Thinking of scrapping website and doing something new. Open to suggestions on what you guys want... I know the search could be better!

Having horrendous email issues right now, emails just vanish. I always reply so if you dont get a reply, use this group, fb messenger on website or just phone me.

Bought a lovely big unit so looks like I'll be opening up a showroom soon and able to carry more stock, lines, different products....

Onwards and upwards.

Cheers

Phil

The search box is near to useless, so anything improving on that.

Also often when changing pages it just jumps to the top of the same page until you press it again

The descriptive copy on the existing website is quite limited on the parts, and I struggle to be sure if the part I'm looking at is the one I need. However I realise it is a big exercise for maybe not a lot of sales to provide more. Maybe the suppliers can provide appropriate copy you could use?

I should expand on this....
I've used the search box to look for a specific part and it hasn't come up but a lot of other items do instead.
I've then googled the part and it comes up on the PH website 😄

I think the issue is it's just a drop down box. If it showed actual search results on the page it would probably work 10x better.
It's almost as if the drop down doesn't show you everything.

It might also be how the search works as I've put part numbers in it and sometimes assumed you don't have that part until it comes up on Google showing you do.

Webpage could do with loading quicker etc. There are some recommendations on those sites I've put in this post.

Who's search box do you like so I can take a look? None of them seem great to me....
Terrys over at pinballlife is pretty good phil, let’s you search via name, keywords and part numbers.

This is how I see it, to be honest if I’m looking for a part I just type in Google and it links to your page.

I generally think PB site is one of the best uk sites to find stuff regardless. The whole ordering process is very straight forward to !

Most of the time your search works on part number.

I do find though oddly you sell some items cheaper on eBay than on the website.

I'll usually use Google to find what I want then search by part number on your site.

A few items I've also ordered and the item isn't available any more but was in stock.

So for me improvements would be:

- Better site navigation
- Accurate stock levels
- Cheaper pricing vs. that of your eBay prices
- Faster website (sometimes it feels so slow)
- More images on products and more detailed descriptions as well as related components
- Bulk discounts on parts i.e. buying 60 wood screws should be sold at a discount over the price of one single screw

What I already like:

- Shipping is fairly quick
- Prices on the whole are the best in the UK
- Website theme and look still is the best in the UK

Depends if you want to carry on doing all you currently do Phil, or just want to concentrate on machine sales/rentals and break the parts out to another site??

I'd say it's worth getting a website design company to build it for you to your spec. There are lots of small independent companies who know what they are doing and don't charge the earth. The functionality you are looking for won't be rocket science to them and with integration to billing and accounting it could be something that makes you thankful every day! A good investment - lots of bang for your buck.

If you wanted to outsource the management of small parts orders (picking, packing, dispatch.. the lot) then there's a little company I work for that's local to you in Chorley fulfilmentcrowd.com

We can connect to your eBay store, Shopify, almost any online marketplace and look after everything. You get notifications when stock is running low. Happy to chat 🙂

It would be good if every item you sell was also linked to each specific machine it fits.
So that you can search for GZ for example, it will show you all of the parts which are specific to GZ, be that spare plastic set or coil stops - similar to Marco. Makes it more likely that you order the right part for your machine.

Obviously you should also be able to search by part name or no'
