Removed the Rom chip from my T2 and when I refitted everything is in French, I remember soldering a jumper on my TAF years ago to swap it over from German but surely this is not necessary in this case, anyone had the same experience and apart from getting a dictionary out what was the solution?

Hi,

If you want to switch the 'soft' adjustment to English, go into the 'R' section of the menu (reglage = adjustment), and then select 'R.1' for 'standard adjustments'. Scroll through the entries until you find one where the existing setting is 'Francais', probably towards the end (R.1.28?). Change this to 'English' and you should be ok from there.

The same would apply if the text was German, only then you'd need the 'E.1' sub-menu, and be looking for 'Deutsch'.

I get this all the time with games reverting to German.

You kinda get used to navigating the menus in German to get to the language setting after a while.

After you've had to do it more than once, you'll probably want to pull out the CPU board and set the soldered jumpers as per Carl's link ;)

Great !
Don't you just love it when that happens. (To someone else's machine)
Sorry Andy, I really do feel your pain, but when I hear of that happening it just brings a smile to my face.

As Carl says the answer is on the Belgium site. This happened to me almost 12months ago also on a T2. (Check Tips n Tricks April 5 2013).
There are no dip switches as such on the T2 but 3 (4) vertical very white resistors in a row. (See guide) to revert to US language you clip out the transistor(s) as advised in the guide. ( http://www.flippers.be/basics/101_wpc_country_settings.html ) .

If at any time you want to revert to French just re solder. I did not remove completely but only cut one end.

QUOTE As far as I have noticed, there are no differences between USA and USA2. So when you have a WPC-89 cpu set to another country and you want to set it to USA, you do not have to solder wires in to get it to American settings.
You can just cut resistors W15 to W18 and the machine will default to USA2, which is more easy and safe to do. UNQUOTE
