Well I finally bit the bullet and shelled out on this monster and although not what I initially contemplated getting it was a great deal I couldnt turn down so I regrefully let one of my pins go to help fund it. Thankfully the missus has accepted the fact it eats up half our garage and what keeps her happy is making me happy so lucky me I found a gudun. When it arrived and she came in from work her exact words were and I quote "ooooh thats a big un" mind you at the time I was wearing me budgie smugglers so it may have been msdirected myway one can only dream.

Helga is a HPC6090 which as the title sugessts has a cutting bed of 600 x 900 she stands 1.1m tall 1.2M deep and 1.5M wide she truely is a big lass.

Although its not plumbed in until Sunday I have rigged her temporary with a brand new industrial water chiller and piped the fumes out of the door until she fixed in place. God knows what the neighbours would say if they saw what was going on as it looks a proper industrial piece of kit.

A few large intricate test pieces ive been working on showed the difference in just how quick it is with the tube rated double the old one it can cut at 2.5 times the speed at 40% of the rated power its capable of. But best of all how unbelievable how precise it was cutting a 650 x 220 detailed design to perfection although just in card as my large acylic order is on the way and wont be here till next week. It also engrave twice as fast with more detail so all round win win.

All I need now is a Shark for the pond in the back garden and im in the Super Villain business.

Now enjoy some Laser Porn care of Helga I get a damp patch in my undercrackers each time I switch her on. ;)

for scale thats my Triumph Bobber 1200 dwarfed by Helga

This may not look much but I can barely lift it up and looks way bigger in the flesh just like Helga

I am impressed in the size of that thing and the artwork it's done ,but that bottle of Corrona , that's hits the spot ;)

That’s impressive col, your going to be able to do so much more with that awesome bit of kit. Definitely be after some bits when you have some time.

HPC lasers are great, The chillers not so much, make sure you keep the rust inhibitor at the correct concentration.
Got a Mercury, Mercury II and an X252 (100w!). As with all reflecting lasers, you lose power the further away from the source you are. Notice it on our 1000x800 bed.

HPC have been actual stars helping me sort a new laser, setting it up and recommended the chiller I bought from them.
I visited them a couple of weeks ago for a demo of their big stuff and to get some idea of how big they actually were before I bit the bullet.
I though my old one was big but this is in another ball park.
It’s nice to have the power now as my old one was constantly set on 98% whereas I can cut the same materials at 40% power and almost 3 times faster.
My old one had a 30w laser tube the new one has an 80w one which is great for thicker materials.
Out of interest as they never mentioned the rust inhibitor what do you use? Maybe they they already added as it was all tested and ready to go when I collected it in person.

Wow - out of interest - what is the power supply required for one of these ?
In all honesty I’ve no idea unless I pull her out and check the intervals.
Also she now all in situ and I’ve had her plumbed in so to speak so she going no where.

Oh before anyone points out I’m waiting for the 150mm Jubilee clips arriving today the duct tape is temporary and lets me play

Just send whatever needs done I may have to get some larger stock in for it so bear with me Jim

no worries. I’ll send it over again. Wanted it out of 1mm black. Nothing complex it was just the overall length that needs a bigger cutter

Black 1mm! What are you considering as material? Bear in mind you can’t cut anything PVC based and I’ve not managed to get of anything less that 2mm in acylic.
I do have some HIPs arriving tomorrow In Black and Mirror finish so gonna try a little test cut as some say they have had mixed results.

Its branded LotusLaser
What software are you running ?The one we have is absolute muck (ezcad)!

I use CorelDraw2020 for all my design work then import it into the laser as a DXF (autocad). The Laser software is quite an antiquated program called LaserCut 5.3 and requires a dongle which is £200 (just had to buy another) on relection I should have updated my controller.

My laser has a Leetro Controler which is rather basic and I should really upgrade to the better Ruida which is the way to go as you can use lightburn which is another gravy above LaserCut.

However all that said Lightburn is no where as good as Corel for design and ive been using that for more years than I care to remember. I've also became quite adept at using it with all the little quirks i've learned for laser work so it does me.

hope this helps and feel free if I can help further just PM me

1mm Mirror blades for my TZ please Col :p
My new bed can only cut 900 x 600 and sideblades are much longer than this and although my laser has pass through I think it would be difficult to cut in 2 sections to perfection.
By all accounts it seems like you can manually cut them using a Stanley type blade which I’ll try when my HIPs sheets arrive some point today.
