I've been into pinball for a few years now and I remember lulls in machines for sale. Usually early in the year when people are sort of settled for winter. That said the last few weeks/months have seemed really slim pickings? Increasingly so too. What's on?

Pandemic/lockdown? Nowhere to spend you cash, can't go on holiday or drink ourselves silly etc.

Dreadful new classified section to blame?

People selling more on eBay/Facebook/Gumtree to maximise value?

Maybe a combination I guess. Or maybe it's just my perception of it all but I swear I don't remember a lull like this. I know more than one person + myself with pinball cash to spend and seemingly nowhere to spend it. Guess summer might change all this but hopefully by then I'll be too busy wasting all my disposable cash boozing.

Price of new games, less games entering the market due to higher prices, other avenues of sale getting supposedly higher prices for 2nd hand and onwards.

May be lots ‘potentially’ for sale but not advertised. 3 of my pins (Metallica, Iron Maiden & Guardians..) I got by posting a Wanted ad. Didn’t have to over pay for any of them, 2 from forum members and 1 from elsewhere.

I'll be selling my Williams Blackout and Cosmic Gunfight in the coming weeks

With Tilt reopening listing them keeps getting pushed back

Not really visiting the classified section. It's like tumbleweed there. Used to be the reason I visited the site for the discussions and comments in the old 'For Sale' thread but definitely find I visit less now. Wonder if that's why there are a grand total of 3 machines for sale now.

I never click it. Used to be the first thing I checked every morning not just on this site but online in general

I also miscounted. There are only 2 pinball machines for sale. The third listing is for a set of arcade machine light guns. So much for the new classified section creating a more structured approach.

Truth is what has been up for sale doesn’t sell that easily as it’s over priced tat.
Nothing against selling players grade machines but they have to be priced as this.

Others see over priced tat and advertise theirs for too much.
Machines are about but very expensive.

I'm waiting for lockdown to end before listing my Alice Cooper. I know Martin is allowed to collect but someone travelling miles to pick one up doesn't really fall into daily exercise. If people want to do that it's up to them.

Obviously you missed the other 36 pins that have sold on there so far this year....

I'm reading this with interest and I have to agree about the for sale section comments. As a relative newbie to pinball I have very little experience on any of the machines and lockdown has only made this worse.

However, I found the opinions/comments/debate in the old for sale section a very helpful source of info. It really helped me take the plunge into this hobby. I was always excited to log on and check to see what was for sale and how the threads were developing. There was always machines coming up for sale or trade and it was a vibrant market. Now, due to the lack of content and general activity I find myself just not bothering to look. I also can't look back at what was for sale before as people seem to just remove their adverts.....so no historical reference either. This is a real shame as I have bought all my machines thus far (5) via the forum - if not from direct for sale ads, then from other members that had replied to listed ads saying they had a machine they were considering selling. I am looking to buy another machine now but have almost given up on getting one on here. I don't know what I want, but seeing machines come up for sale on the old for sale section would have given me ideas and options, and by now I would have certainly bought my next machine from a forum member.

It just seems kind of soulless now...…..and ebay is not much of an experience for a buyer compared to what we had on here before. Plus, the prices are mental and there is little or no interaction on there.

Maybe they are just coming and going faster than I am seeing them......

TWD?

Lack of games for sale IMO is because -

1.) Last 2 Stern releases have not been received well, so no one selling to get the newest game. JJP can’t deliver on the demand for G&R so no need to make space until later this year.
2.) EU tax issue postponed imports until a few weeks ago.
3.) Game prices are INSANE at the moment.. driven up by COVID demand
4.) Some members likely going to EBay to sell machines to avoid conflict on price

was going to ask about the classified section, seems harder to find stuff now., les intuitive less functional? Preferred the old method. Can we go back? @Paul

Hi all

out of interest it would be goid to see the number of times the classified section has been clicked on or the total number of members that went on the section through February and compare that to February 2020. As people have less to do you would think the hits to the section would be dramatically bigger but I have a feeling this isn’t the case. Paul are you able to provide some stats?

Cheers 👍
