Hi

Having just priced up the cost or relacing every single metal post on my Roadshow am thinking i just bite the bullet and grab a cheap tumbler and give it a go..

I've seen this one before meant for gun casings.. I dont need to do anything large so think this will be fine.. thoughts ?

https://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/smartreloader-sr737-tumbler-nano-220v

Also can anyone recomend the required polishing beads ? if thats what they are called for such an aplication..

Thanks in advance.

Andy

I havn't seen that one, a lot of us have the Lyman 1200 pro https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lyman-1200-Turbo-Cleaning-Tumbler/dp/B0063GS1Y2/ there are occasionaly deals and these do sell for good money second hand.
And the Lyman cob media https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lyman-Corncob-Green-Tumble-1-02kg/dp/B000NTMK24/?th=1&psc=1, there is other media which is smaller size.
A dollop or autosolve helps too.

My one peice of advice is don't run this none stop cleaning things in your pin shed as the media generates a dust that gets everywhere. Do it in a place where the dust wont be an issue.

I use this one which doesn’t have the dust issue (for me anyway).

I’ve been through shed loads of media. Walnut shells with autoglym metal polish for posts. You need something to pick the shells out of threads etc sometimes. Results are on my Whirlwind thread. Posts will need 36 hours or so to look like new.

That’s the one I use. Really good quality and hasn’t missed a beat. Plus like you said it doesn’t have the dust issue.

managed to pick up a SR737 Case Tumbler Nano for £45 on a 1 day deal on ebay yesterday and it arrived today.

its smallish compared to the others listed, so I'll report back once the polishing media arrives but its more than ample for the posts and bits I want to tumble.

I use walnut media

Just remember, some posts will beyond saving, the plating they did have has gone to plating heaven

These are from a Black Knight 2000 after two days tumbling, I will replace them all

I find medium crushed walnut is the best.

I made the mistake of using fine crushed walnut when I first used a tumbler and then spent hours picking it out of every thing. It’s was a nightmare 😂

For anyone not wanting to spend a fortune and doesnt mind a slightly smaller unit, this sr-737 has brought up all my post and screws shiny and new again, can recomend this one!! not bad for £45
