Hi

I have a games room with several arcade machines and want to start adding some pinball based around my two favorite topics of monsters/horror or music.

I tried to find Led Zeppelin pinball (premium) but it seems rare so demands a hight price, I also looked at ghostbusters but then read a load of reviews saying it has issues

As a newbie to this that wants to get my kids into it too what should I look for? Recommend games?

My shortlist was
Led Zeppelin
Ghostbusters
EHOH

I also like the idea of being able to mod it (or get a pro to)

Any advice welcome

Welcome!
If you want to get your kids into it keep it simple, 90’s pins like are MM, AFM and MB hit the spot. Probably why they are the top ones but there are others from that era but will be more trial and error.

Welcome.

The three games my kids have played most are Elvira HOH, Champion Pub and Monster Bash (as Max suggested).

Ghostbusters and Led Zep are too tough for young kids.

Good luck.

Thanks, they are not too young 13 youngest but I did hear good things about EHOH

Hello,

'EHOH' is (presently) the culmination of a series of pins featuring Elvira, its predecessors are Elvira & The Party Monsters and the dot-matrix game Scared Stiff.

Some other possibilities are M/S's Frankenstein and Nightmare On Elm Street.

Bram Stoker's Dracula is highly rated, but well-known as a hard case. Especially if the slightly smaller flippers are fitted, as intended.

If you have the budget MB all the way. I'm bringing munsters to pinfest that's not for sale but its a marmite game and IF it ticks your boxes they come up occasionally at much lower prices than say mb ehoh or addams family

DON’T buy a theme that you think is right for the kids! That way leads to the horror of bugs bunny.

Most of them get bored after a couple of weeks. If it lasts longer than that then you’re onto a winner.

If kids like pinball the theme will almost be irrelevant. My son literally only plays Game of Thrones. My daughter gravitates to Medieval Madness or the Walking Dead.

Play as many as you can and the get one that resonates with you. If the kids like it then make the second one more to their tastes.

Yes, I have two children (aged 3 and 6) who enjoy TNA. That is a pinball machine with no noticeable theme at all! The appeal is the music and the simple rules (my six year old also enjoys Gigi, an EM).

MB, SS, both easy to learn, but still lasting fun, wizard mode is achievable. Personally prefer SS.

My six year old girl likes CFTBL and Tommy. She occasionally gets to TAF and WH2O but they seem harder for her.
Get something that visually looks fun and is easy to get into. Williams IJ is a game lots of new people feel they can quickly get into and achieve stuff.
Perfect title searching at the start is usually time wasted. Find a machine for sale you can go see and just get a known title. Then either add more as you go or change the machine.

Fish Tales & Whitewater are growing on me; although I find Whitewater has a tendency to punish newbies on the very first ball 😆

I've opened a youth club with my recently purchased Ghostbusters, kids seem to like it.

It's a killer theme and a simple and good game, the trick with it is to adjust the ball save and drain save settings in the menu to max, the frustration then goes from the launch to straight drain. Similar to the original bride of pinbot that changes in 2.0.

If your a very good player which I'm not it can be frustrating as you can't necessarily do the tricks due to the very slightly larger flipper gap.

I have mates who aren’t that great at pinball (not saying I am). All of them like GB when we find it on location and seem to play well enough- certainly have some longer games than other supposedly long playing / easy games; due as others have mentioned to the ball save settings being generous and the code being quite clear to follow. When I got my WPT I changed it to 5 balls in the settings which helped me see more of the game and improve my skills etc over time (Btw- it’s still on 5 balls 😂 3 years later) Always an option for you on GB!

Led Zep premium- depends how much you like the band as the pin seems aimed more towards tournament players.
EHOH- looks fun but will set you back more £
