New Bally / Williams remakes from Pedretti

I read a while back that someone was buying up all the TZ parts🤔
If you listened to Cary’s Vid he was saying part of the agreement is all parts must be US made to the original Bally/ Will specs inc ramps etc so they will be useable on the original pins.

Yes I watched that, the parts were bought from someone like Planetary Pinball or Pinball life. Can’t remember who from but it was someone who worked for the company who spilled the beans I think, was on Pinside ages ago.

Could all be rubbish though.

Cary said 2 of the top 5 WPC’s in that video I think so doubt it’s FT although it’s one of my favourites, always thought it would be difficult to get the go ahead for TZ with all the copyrights. Be interesting to see how much it costs if it is TZ, Jaws is pretty sparse compared!!!!

Cary has got MANY things wrong.

You can bet your life most the spares for pinballs are not made in the USA anyway.

The photos that Pedretti have on Facebook shows a Fish Tales but it is clearly an older machine.

Its only got to be worth it for the more sought after expensive titles hasnt it, depending on what the prices are. As mentioned here I think, would anyone pay £10k (guess at the price) for a Fish Tales when you can get an original completely shopped one for less, and one that is possibly more repairable in terms of boards etc compared to the remake depending on what hardware they use.

I can't see much of a market for B/W remakes at NIB prices now that the holy trinity has already been remade.

Except maybe TOTAN because of rairty even though it's not a great game.

However if they can remake them and have 2.0 kits installed that allow you to switch to a deeper improved ruleset they could be onto something.

Those Jpop games are just too simple or the rules suck.

I know people say TOM is easy but I've never got to grand finale on 3 balls with the game and flippers set up properly (no replay extra balls). It's fast and punishing.
But even so I think the rules are mundane.. hit trunk 3 times to light mode, hit trunk to start mode. Then a lot of the modes involve hitting the trunk again and again. Multiball, hit trunk, enter trunk etc.
If TOM had a rewrite it would be awesome, it has great shots and combos but they're rarely used in any meaningful ways.

If they remade a game like TOM with new rules it would be great, but I highly doubt it😁

Looking the Pinside top 100 (as of 9th Jan '24), these are the WPC games in order (Whirlwind included), up to and including FT, which sits at a lowly 70th place! I doubt FT will be one of them to be honest, but whatever.

@David_Vi Roadshow trails at 84! Heresy...

TOTAN is an brilliant game, you cant be playing it correctly.

Although it is definitely overvalued, not sure its overrated.
I'm going to stick up for @David_Vi here. I played TOTAN for the first time at Pinfest last year (two two-player games and I did waaayyy better than the other player, so it was not that I was playing super-badly), and my reaction was, well... 'eh' (see below... I totally had that vibe).

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't super-amazing either. Definitely has the status it does due to the pretty (and it is *very* pretty).

There are a lot of collectors on Pinside who upvote stuff due to nostalgia and collectability and, if you don't have either of those things, some of these titles can be a bit... 'eh'.

Who would make their playfields?

If it's Mirco - no thanks.

Are CGC playfields out in public locations holding up ok?

You're definitely right about nostalgia affecting ratings, its the reason why I think TAF is so highly rated where as I think its only so so and I dont have any nostalgia about playing it back in the day.

As with anything theres always going to be a difference in peoples opinions, and for me I love playing TOTAN, but I have only played a real one a few times (The same one at pinfest which was also at NERG) but I played it first on a virtual pin and I spent hours playing it and learning all rules and I still loved playing it on real pin.

I would own one if they were more available for sale at a reasonable price, say £3k to £4k but even though I like it so much I would be hard pressed to pay any more for it that than for an original or nearly 5 figures for a remake version.

Who is the other German playfield manufacturer other than those two, I heard American Pinball and Spooky use them and they are really good, also have a unique process for the inserts so they stay flush. There is a video on an American Pinball tour where they mention it.
