I'm still not sure why they decided to change the board set the way they did. If you're going to redesign such a major part it must cost an absolute fortune to do so.
I originally assumed it was so that they would then have a system that could more easily be adapted for different games and so future releases would be cheaper to make.
However, now it seems that PPS may or may not be working with CG on future titles so a whole new system may then be designed
I'm not annoyed with Phil in the slightest, I know some other distros took full payment 18 months ago on the grounds that delivery was going to happen then. Even so if we get a delivery in Jan it's still 6 months after we (and Phil) had to pay the balance for them.
What I feel is unacceptable is that Rick / PPS claimed it was his project at the start then has consistently tried to weasel out of any issues that since arrived. When you presell 1000 machines that's a $7million commitment you've undertaken so keep your customers (and distros) informed about what is going on. If it's not PPS job to do this then surely CG should be doing so. Some of the stories about after sales service are worrying for me. If a slingshot starts hacking into the playfield then it is the manufacturers responsibility to solve this not the customers. Similarly if a machine is damaged in transit is sending a small pot of paint out really the solution? At the prices charged would you accept the same for a car or high end TV?
I'm really hoping that we all end up very happy with our games but buying something really shouldn't be this hard
I suspect I'm also bent out of shape as I ordered MMr,Hobbit and Predator at roughly the same time, so got bent over three times. Luckily I managed to get my cash back for 2 of these but it really has caused me to reassess why I was so willing to also order MMr.
Oh well it could have been worse, I could have pre-ordered Wrestlemania
