I see there is another update from pps that the line will probably restart mid june now so the couple of weeks down time has trebled, it gets so annoying when you look on their site for news and all you get is bulls**t, "Anyways, thanks for patience and we are gearing up to get the remaining MMR's out " nice ending rick ,they were gearing up 6 months ago.

so far they have managed to average around 12 machines a week ,so if they carry on at the rate they are going the last one should go out the door in 62 weeks. And looking at some of the posts on pps site there seems to be a few worrying problems
not serious but worrying with loose castle parts and miss aligned wire ramps where people are told to glue them and bend them ,loose flippers wrong slow blow fuses, hmmmm, I dont think pps were prepared for making a pinball, well it doesnt look like i will be taking mine to the pinball party this year.?

Aren't they being built by Stern?

Stern's QC isn't all that from what i can gather... this guys' review of STLE shows a few.

yes m8 they are being built by stern ,who dont seem the best but probably better than if pps made them themselves, i would think?

Can't believe they still haven't got their act together @Eric Evans

Remember you telling me you were going to order one when I came to collect your SS. Still got your SS though - never given me any problems!

nice 1 andy glad ss is going well , i know its a pain waiting so long ,probably good for you as if id have known about the delay i would have kept it another year lol and they are still sneaking up in price by the looks. i knew i should have jumped on the star trek le last week .

Yup totally bored too, seem to remember ordering an MMR, all delays should be met with a fixed price per day delay discount, £20 sounds fair ;), I wouldn't have bothered if I knew it was going to drag out so long, let's hope that the original price is fixed as the $ has soared against £ and the way it's going who knows where it will be in a couple years when we finally get our machines.

I have commented before the agreed price is the agreed price. I am not putting the price up on existing orders. Just new ones to combat the pain of currency fluctuations!!

I actually got a "call for cash" from PPS this weekend but then when I questioned it it seems it's not quite our time yet. But soon!

Phil

hi phil looking at the pps site someone mentioned not many more than 70 have been made since production which makes me think we will be lucky to see them before xmas ,but didnt someone say that payment was due 2 weeks before dispatch? are they trying to pull a fast 1 by pulling everyones money in early? and yes you did say we pay the agreed price which is very good of you :)

The email I got which was probably on PPS site was along the lines of make sure the payment is on time (!!!!!). I think way more than 70 done but I am not sure. I thought 200-250.

I think a month and it will be pay up time. Gives people then a week or so to transfer to me and time for funds to reach USA. At a guess.

ok cool, hope they get them moving a bit faster when they start up again, does this mean we may be in the second batch or are they not letting you know yet?

They were going to work that out and get back to me.

So hopefully some news soon!

Phil

Eeek, better get some cash together.

Just sold a machine yesterday so was wondering what I would fill the space with. Guess I now know.

yes that would be nice its been a long time, well its felt like a long time ,so some news would be great

This was posted by Rick on the PPS forum the other day:

"For PPS customers - best to get your payments in as soon as possible - we have learned that the 'burst'-ness of the games off the line created huge issues as while we did not want to collect payment 'early', we often ended up not having enough time to collect and allocated to those who had money in. So, the moral of the story is - if you provide the payment sooner then you will get your game when you were supposed to OR earlier. If you wait until we notify you and you delay your payment then the liklihood is later - that is due to the amount of time to do the shipping and clear payment and the start/stop and burst speed of the games coming off the line. NOTE: our guys are really busy sorting out the shipping logistics and payment processing - it does not help to continue to 'check up' on things - we will notify you when we get to your payment and get ready to quote shipping, etc, so PLEASE all repeat requests just slow them down.
We are still pinning down color trim sequencing for next batch and exactly how long the next batch is as well reseller allocation - other than those in 'front' of your reseller's line you will not generally get any 'dates' for when your game ships - as most often this is not possible until we are running and see exactly how the line is moving, etc.
Anyways, thanks for patience and we are gearing up to get the remaining MMR's out, and will update as there are updates. As usual, rather than making dozens of posts and having 'rants' you can always call me as well"

:hmm:

Well the longer the better for me, I'm going on holiday next week and I've got £3k to pay on a summer holiday for the kids by mid June so hopefully the shout for cash won't come too soon, plus it does seem like they have a few issues to hopefully iron out so if we get the last of the machines I feel a better chance of getting a relatively trouble free machine!

:hmm:

this is what i dont understand he wont say how many are made ,he wont say how far down the line the different regions are being made, and they have had 5 months to see how the line is moving, and to gear up ,i know i sound a bit moany but i dont want to fork out over 5k and find i wont get a machine till next year, and what does he mean by burstness . "if you provide the payment sooner then you will get your game when you were supposed" and when is that? 12 months ago? lol. i just hope they tell phil which batch the uk is allocated, any one order black or silver phil? i ordered gold 24k

From what I gather so far they have only made gold trim machines.

Assuming all the UK orders willl be shipped together, and with a mixture of trims, I think we could be in for a long wait. (unless there is another sudden "burst-ness")

Anyone else think "******" when reading that message from PPS? Saw it last weekend. If you are a year late with a game and have had some people's full amount for that time then shouldn't you be more polite to your customers? Why on earth should people pay up before the machines are made? How hard is it to contact them when machines are about to go into production and chase the money then? If we're only talking about 750 people then how long does it take to contact your customers? What else do PPS do with their time? Why the **** shouldn't customers who have paid a deposit contact PPS for an update if they want? If you sit on $1 million + of deposits I think it's reasonable to expect customers to wonder what is going on.

I am sure they could tell us when they are ON THE LINE! All 3 trims coming into the UK!

At a guess...

I suspect Stern make their own titles a priority for going down the line. When they run low on parts (or orders?) for a particular model they switch to the next one. If the next one is not ready (lacking parts or orders), they then switch to something else - in this case MMRs (or Whoa Nellie!) and run them on the line until Stern's own models are ready to run again. Hence a production "burst" where a batch is suddenly made in a short time frame. I'm guessing that these can't hang around at the factory for very long due to the mass production of machines there so it helps if they know where to ship them. Obviously they don't want to ship them before they've been paid, hence the request for money in advance and not knowing when exactly they will be made.

There's been a few reports of cab damage during shipping.

This is all the packaging they're using (apart from the box and straps) :

Fingers crossed they arrive here undamaged.

Really can't see MMr not actually being made now that they've started production. Not sure I believe a two month time scale though but maybe Stern can fire them out. Using Stern is a really smart move by PPS as it massively cuts down their overheads.

I not as certain about a couple of the other titles that still need to come out. Every day there is a delay sees more money being burnt on staff, warehousing etc. I dread to think how thin some of the profit margins are now with these hold ups. Can't help wondering if we'll also get a bottleneck effect with BL, Hobbit (or JJP#3), Aliens, GOT, AFMr all hitting at the same time. While that's great for customers I can't see the market being able to support all of the games in a 12 month period.

Guess we'll find out....
