It's a must have mod as don't think the originals will ever get this.

Same goes for AFMR. Biggest selling point will be this.

Top man, thanks for doing it at such a great price, £ to $ value taken into account.

Ordered.

Don't suppose anyone knows if AFMR Standard model is going to come with the HD Colour dots already installed?

Cheers Phil,

Picked mine up from the Post Office this morning. Dead easy to install. The software update takes hardly any time compared to updating a Stern machine.

Thanks for sorting it all out for us

John

John

Is it worth it?

I've got a standard model, so need to pay full wack

Cheers

Shame about the high price for standard owners, but it does look awesome, way better than Color DMD.

For £100 yes without any doubts.
For £400 I'm not as convinced. You'd be very welcome to call round and see it in person before making a judgement call. The animations are good and it brings a lot of the graphics to life. For example the different princesses are now really noticeable. The work on the trolls is also good.
One of the big advantage of colourdmd is that you can change the screen into different games. For this one you only get the software for £400 which is pricey. However, if you never move your colourdmds around then I guess it's the same price effectively and the graphics are far better.

As an aside changing the software also doesn't change your settings or high scores

Wow. Looks miles ahead of the colordmd version. Is the upgrade a ROM that has to be fitted to the machine?

It's like someone took a Spectrum 48k (on a black and white telly) and upgraded it to a Commodore 64! (whilst JJP are playing PS2 in the corner).

I'm still not clear why the ColorDMD people don't/can't do something like this? i.e. Presenting higher resolution interpretations of DMD frames instead of the originals. Or maybe PPS have made it hard to be worth bothering with, so they stick with simply overlaying colourisation onto whatever's output. Catch me if you can Mr PPS Lawyer!

I would also like to thank Phil for coming through on these at such a great price, once again shows Pinball Heaven's A1 customer service.

Spot on Sir.

Hi Phil

I put in an order using your link above a couple of weeks ago. Should I have heard something by now?

Regards

Rob Down

The upgrade is fantastic, great for those waiting! its like 4x the resolution of the normal colour dmd, which i still like too.

Because that would require professional animators and artists at considerable expense, rather than hobbyists (some of who may be artists) doing some colouring in for effectively negligible or no cost.
